@DEFAULTDNB Thanks for posting, Im surprised the temps are so similar to mine (65ºC and 70ºC in a 22ºC room), I fell like less of a tool for getting the only slim with 65nm RSX...

Seems like Phat PS3 temps are better in game than slims but awful on idle.

You temps mirror mine almost exactly, if you have anything other than a CECH 20XXX then you have the 45 40 otherwise the 45 65

CECH25xx (not modifyed, never opened)
----------
Temperatures stables after 60 minutes idle (no screensaver) inside multiman v4.06.02
Room: 21º C
CPU: 69º C (changes 1ºC up or down between 68 and 69)
RSX: 70º C (changes 1ºC up or down between 69 and 70)

Notes:
------
*Fan increases the speed @ CPU:64ºC RSX:66ºC
A bit more noisy (but almost not notable and still silent)... this fan speed change doesnt reduce the temperature
*Time needed to stabilish temperatures: 30-45 minutes
This is because the amount of metal inside the PS3 that "slowers" the "temperature change peaks"

Edit: dammit, this needs a lot of time to stabilish, when it seems you are reaching the stable value (around 15 minutes)... there is still some heat that is cummulating in the metal chasis... this makes increases of around 1º C every 5 minutes, and it last around 30-45 minutes more

So my initial values (what i thought was stable after 15 minutes) was CPU:65º and RSX: 66ºC... and after around 60 minutes i have CPU:69º and RSX: 70ºC

As a resume... guys take your time to make the tests because this needs more than 30 minutes to know the "idle" temp, i cant believe some of the tests other users did of this model, something make me think that you didnt waited enought time to see your "stable" values (when i opened multiman i began at CPU:45ºC GPU:50ºC but this values are not important)

Exactly. I have a chech2501b which by what you said is the 45/40 and you have the 45/65 right? And our temps are around the same. Mine should be a little cooler than yours since it is a smaller chip at 40 instead of 65. I guess that means mine is running a little hot?

One advice from someone who has WC (water cooling) in everything he boughts.
Don't be so attached to the temperature (4 real) you can end loco like me.

It's not a joke.
Really, i check temps almost once a day.

We are 4 or 5 with the same model (there are a couple of messages before)
But you did not spent the time enought in idle to see the "stable" temp

My ps3 has not been used too much, your temps must be close to what i said

45 40 nanometers was introduced in CECH21xx model, after this model all uses the same chips (included the new superslim)
The "xx" at the last numbers is the region (e.g: 4 = euro for me = CECH2504... the letter after the numbers (A or B) is the hdd size, but is not accurate and not useful

I suggest you both to do the test in the way i did (you was close to 20 minutes, but is not enought)

Edit:
The screensaver in multiman (the sparks) has no effect in the temperatures (no difference)
After more than 1 hour in idle.... + around 30 minutes with the screensaver the temperatures was the same
So if anyone wants to do this test dont worry about the screensaver

Edit 2:
I know.... im meassuring the "load" of multiman

You got a point there....

I was just envisioning the tirade of threads saying "is this temp ok?". When the temp is fine, like on PC forums.

Mine was about the same cpu70 rsx50 thats with my phat flat also took some temps around the shell , warmest underneath so gonna move it vertical see if its any different.

Also the ps2emu on non-B/C's could be a good stress test, well it always made my fan go into high.

@Bigbones87 Yeh you have the 45 40 chips. I would expect your slim to be lower in temps than mine, closer to DEFAULTDNB but it could be a diff of room temp or air flow, no two products are the same either...

This is why I made a proper thread (no offence to OP) with a set test pattern which could give us all a nice chunk of organised data so that we could use it to get an idea of the normal range. Unfortunately I think it got buried? at least I couldnt see it where it should have been on the recent post pages...

@samson I remember reading that phat PS3 vertically actually got hotter something to do with the build of of heat some guy used a thermal camera to see external temps let see if you can bust this myth

Reballed 03/2012

CPU = 73 C/163.7 F +/-2
RSX = 67 C/152.6 F +/- 2
