Yes like all Gigabyte network cards have mdix now days, and IPv6.

Ipv6 is needed at home with most new hardware with a lan card, but it's not fully implemented on the net yet, nor can I see it happening for at least another year or two. Thank God

But yes a crossover cable is not needed most times, because mdix is in all net cards as wall as IPv6 since 2008 maybe before, due to a main reason of running out of IP address. so now with IPv6 we use mac address instead, which is just how the switches on the network like it.

How I Do.

Well I find that if i just use ps3media server and connect my pc and ps3 through a router via Ethernet I can transfer large files. I have a Intel Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter and I can reach transfer speeds of up to 114 MBps.

I have been transferring 8 GB .m2ts files that have been muxed from mkv via tsmuxer to ps3 with perfect playback going to try a 15 Gb vid next.

100 megabits / 8 = 12.5 Megabytes per second. I get at least this speed with a router in the middle during ftp transfers.
