If at this rate many of the users did not waste their time to check the huge banner. With all that info in it, they will get MORE confused.
Believe me, anyone who browse on a daily basis Hax will understand this but for someone new if you give him/her too much information in a banner that they don't even notice (or they don't want to notice) we will get the same results and worst than with this one.

I keep my hopes up for something easy and dinamic that follow the user until he closes the windows (java?) with simple details nothing technical.
Many boards uses it, it's a pain in the arse to see it but get's less problematic at the end of the day. Since once the user closes that little window with some kind of warning he accepted that he read already read the info in it and if he fails to do so he will get contacted and probably infracted.

I think I mentioned this to @stuck? a while back about adding a captcha code upon signing up to this site.

It would be something as simple as the picture of the scene status banner and below it 2 basic questions along the line of:

"Which of these ps3 models cant be downgraded"
(2 radio buttons: 3k slims ,4k series) ~ its a trick question

"What FW is required for CFW"
(3 radio button options: 3.55, 3.65 or 4.25)

If they cant answer those, they get kicked from sign up until they learn how to search, rather than just ask ask ask.

It might also prevent spam bots.

Last night I was going to make a post in here but I got a little distracted. So instead of doing the entire rant over again here is my thought on the matter

It was all @DEFAULTDNB 's fault....I would have never quoted a week long post if you didnt go bump that thread :D

To put it simply why is everyone crying when it is semi accurate (change 4.20 to the phrase "current firmware" and it would be totally accurate.) People aren't going to notice it if they don't want to notice it. If I remember correctly, weren't staff supposed to just lock those annoying "is there blah dot blah blah jailbreak?" The banner has been there for a while and the same situation that drove me to the brink of insanity is still going on because people fail to read. Most users use google to research and find their way here. A lot of these users are young as well. I remember having a 3.11 PSP, which at the time was unhackable (before pandora) and just by reading a few posts on google for the question I typed in I knew not to ask because these guys were getting trolled off of the internet.

We can not control what a person fails to see. We cannot choose if someone configured adblock to treat this an ad. We cannot stop common human stupidity. We can control that this is the internet and it is flooded with the some off the saddest excuse of humanity as well as some of the smartest people alive.
