I swear most of us have second or third gen i5 processors, they are awesome though.

Actually been playing with my CPU overclock these past few days. I was able to get to 4.4 ghz with my bulldozer CPU without changing anything but the multiplier. Last night I was actually able to hit the 4.7 mark, but I didn't want to push it with AMD's stock crap cooler. I will have a new cooler in a few days and will try to get 5 ghz If the piledriver series AMD CPUs actually are a big improvement over bulldozer then I plan on upgrading to a 6 core piledriver since the FX series are beast overclockers. That will still be a while though. January I plan on getting 2 7970s or 2 7990s (if available) and as stated above a 6 core piledriver if they are an improvement.

I have a new screenshot I have been meaning to post. My PC no longer looks like this because Windows 8 was pure trash. Also I now have 8 more gig of ram and my CPU is sitting at 4.6 Ghz. MSDN should pay me for going through that headache Never have I rolled back Windows OSes. I "upgraded" to Vista years ago and didn't roll back to XP, but 8 was very very bad. I do not recommend anyone wasting their time with it. The first time you need to go into safe mode you will want to punch your screen since by default you can only do it from inside of the normal mode msconfig. F8 does not work like it did with previous versions of Windows. What if I cant get to my desktop? Oh so now I have to put in a recovery CD or the install CD to be able to command line force my PC to go into safe mode....way to make the simple repair guy's job that much more annoying. Also, I like playing with 360 mods, and Jungle Flasher (mainly portio64.sys) will not enumerate I/O ports, so 360 drive flashing isn't possible as of right now.....even though it was in ever other pre release they have made available.

I was able to add a functional start button thanks to an application called Start8, I was able to get desktop gadgets working even though MS is leaving that idea behind in favor of metro, and I was able to bypass metro almost completely. I only saw metro if I wanted to see it. The OS just has serious issues. Local policies seemed to like screwing themselves up for whatever reason, almost everything was requiring Windows 7 compatibility mode, metro (if I wanted to look at it) would randomly decide to not launch metro apps because of the local policy **** ups, my video card drivers didnt want to play well with it at all (could be all ATI's fault because they cant write a good driver to save their lives), and so many other things that made 7 good and XP great are non existant or broken. Oh not to mention that the OS sends MS logs of everything (and I mean everything) you do on the PC if you dont turn off that so called feature. If you like your right to privacy and choose to use Windows 8 grabage, make sure you turn off smartscreen. It may not really matter because something tells me even if it is off, your PC is still dialing home. I guess the day is coming when companies like MS and Sony are going to start acting like PCs are consoles, and we just have a license to use them in their eyes and no real right to ownership....Umm I built this thing, it is mine, I didn't have to sign a ToS to build it or power it on, so what the hell gives you the right to spy on what I am doing? It doesn't matter because I have been warning people about this for years but got labeled as the guy that just believes in conspiracy theory nonsense.

Vista was trash, but 7 was good. Windows 8 is trash so I bet Windows 9 will be out in a very stable public beta in probably 2 years, and blow 8 out of the water. Oh well. At least I wasnt out of money. I love having a MSDN AA account sometimes...too bad MS is putting out lots of trash. Office 2013 is pointless, Visual Studio 2012 is also garbage IMO, and 8 is the biggest piece of OS trash I have seen since Windows ME. Here is to me hoping for the native Linux Steam client that keeps getting talked about. If that happens then I may say goodbye to windows forever.

Sorry for the semi long rant....I just hate Windows 8 that much. I tried to make myself like it, but I didn't even last a week with it

Edit/Update/me *****ing some more: Oh I almost forgot. WTF is up with Windows Media Center in this version of Windows? Oh wait I know.... MS is doing stupid ****. The only practical use I have ever had for WMC is streaming MKVs to my 360. It is now a paid for feature with most version of 8. You now get 2 product keys and one of those is just so you can activate, download, and use WMC. Windows 8 Pro gives it to you for free, but you are still required to enter the 2nd product key which MSDN did not give me with my copy of 8 pro, and even if they did I can't actually download the crap until actual release date....Hey MS I have an idea, dont give out half ass copies of full releases to members of your programs, then look confused as to why your product is getting horrible reviews. Everyone doing reviews got a copy form MSDN, TechNet, or directly from you. WMC is something almost everyone can live without, but I think you may need to rethink your gameplan with this OS.

End Rant...**** WINDOWS 8......Fisher Price "My First OS" looking garbage.

Just a slight update to the rig. I've installed an OCZ Vertex 2 SSD, which has improved speed and performance ALOT.

Here's a benchmark comparison of the SSD compared to a 1TB Samsung drive. You'll notice it's the random 4K reads and writes that suffer the most on the HDD.

HDD:

SSD:

And here's the previous and current performance index marks. The hard drive is still the lowest score, but it's much closer to the performance level of the CPU/RAM/GFX.

Previous Performance Index:

Current Performance Index:

It isn't a preview....why would I have to use MSDN to get a preview? It was the x64 RTM release for MSDN (academic alliance MSDN account)
