Hello,

i read on ps3hax and everywhere on the net that DEX is a real solution for PS3 CFW users, but you see, i think that this solution is related to " leek",

If other newer games, such assassin's creed III or dishonored need the 4.25 firmware , and we have only 4.21 firmware, no one can play this games, unless he update his console, or someone will leek a 4.25 DEX firmware, i'm not spitting on the soup , but i think that DEX is a temporare solution

What do you think of that ?

ANY solution is only a temporary solution. It's the same in any scene. It just tends to be slower in the PS3 scene.

i still miss the old modchip era.
once u install it on ps2 thats it.
n fifa 13 works on a ps2 that was hacked way back in 2005. Thats the beauty of it.
But now system updates n advanced security ruined everything

i think that the only solution is to hack the BR disc, but burn BR still harder and expensive than DVD , a ps3hax member created a topic which talk about a non need of new CFW 4.25 which, according to the team, can be uploaded, so after all, pehaps we need this new cfw with dongle IF the dongle is cheaper and the FW can recieve updates .

BD-R are no more harder to burn than a DVD.
You can get a pack of 10 25gig BD-R for around 50p a disc now but the 50gig are still expensive.

heard about it here, Dont know whats the progress in that thing being made.
but thats also like a permanent fix for backups

and many ps3 games can be stocked on a DVD dual layer, if you delete language pack that you don't use, multiplayer contenent and PS3_UPDATE folder ( exemple : batman arkham city, skyrim, dirt 3, assassin's creed brotherhood and revelations .. )

From my understanding the encryption of the BD drive firmware is ridiculous (although I have never looked into it.) I know c4eva looked into it forever ago, but he went quite on the subject. Besides even if BD emulation were possible like it is with 360 and xkey, wasabi, etc., it would still continue to be the same old cat and mouse game. All Sony would have to do is push out an update that would update the BD drive firmware and these emulation devices would be worthless.

Where have you been for the last 2 years? Newer games (post 3.5x) just recently became playable for free. Also a DEX isn't for everyone. A new DEX firmware will eventually be leaked so people with converts can use it, but what if Sony slammed the door on the DEX converts. There is a possibility that you will see 4.30 DEX, but your ability to downgrade back to 3.55 may be lost. I agree, DEX isn't the answer unless you are a developer that can use a DEX to the fullest, but you may never see a new MFW, and even if you do, then this cat and mouse game will continue. Keep in mind that several of us have been in this since day one, knew the risks, and waited over a year for a solution to play 3.60+ games on our 3.55 units. There will be several new games that may or may not be playable and that is just the way things are.

I doubt we would have ever seen any MFW if PSjailbreak didn't come along, then failoverflow releasing what they had found, which lead to our MFWs. FailOverflow released their findings to help the community get something sony had taken from us. They didn't release it so all new games could be pirated. Yes I say pirated because no matter how many times I hear the "legit purchased game" crap.....we all know better. If games are what you want then either update or find another PS3 (like many other people did.) There are many other homebrew boxes out there like the 360, wii, PC, Raspberry PI, Xbox 1, and the list goes on.

Welcome to the PS3 scene and enjoy what will be a never ending cat and mouse game. Even if 4.30 games become playable in the future, who is to say 4.40 or 4.50 games will be playable.

The cost of DL BD discs, the price of a burner can get you another PS3. Not everyone can afford this solution. Besides right now if I were to go out and buy a burner, and some discs, then I would still have the issue of playing God of War, MGS4, FF13, and several other games.
