Questions PS3 PSVita Remote Play Possibilities
Hello all~
I was wondering if I could bother you all to help me answer some questions over the research I've done to figure out if this is possible. Let me start by saying that I have not bought any pieces of this yet, lol. On to my hypothesis here... I want to be able to play PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP, and PSVita games on my couch via the PSVita. (No VPN, no over 3G, basically all in LAN.) I know that: The Vita should already be able to play PS1, and PSVita games without effort. (I'm a tad fuzzy on the PSP gams, but I just haven't looked that far into it yet.) With some minor hacking effort, should be able to Remote Play any PS3 games. (Yes, I know- not perfectly there is some lag, depends on my internet connection, I've read all about that.) Here is where everything gets really gray though. I've read about two different methods of getting Remote Play to work with the handhelds. One involves SFO Editor and ripping game files onto the PS3 HDD through FTP. http://www.*******.com/ps3-hacks-jai...te-play-games/ The Plus: This method, as I understand how the PS3 uses games, should help make Remote Play slightly less laggy. The Bad: From what I have read, it is near impossible to get a PS2 game to install to the PS3 HDD like the PS3 games can. Thus, I am guessing that even if I had a A01 hardware emulated backwards compatible PS3, this would not work to remote play the PS2 games. The other involves setting the handheld up as a mobile phone on the PS3, then with 3.55 CFW and multiman, is supposed to "stream any PS3 game to the Vita." http://www.ps3hax.net/2012/01/ps-vit...an/#more-13235 The Plus: From what I have read about this method, it really should work with any PS3 game. The Downside: Most information I've found out about this method points me to a YouTube video and a description in Spanish... I can't find anyone who has completed the setup and reported back on game play quality, other than "OMFG DATZ AWESOME." Nor can I find any concrete word on if this is actually streaming, or what type of connection the handheld then has with the PS3, or from where it is streaming data from. Most of my searches have ended up being forum posts that didn't go anywhere, or blog posts that just re-posted the article from the last place I read it. My theory is: If I take a A01 PS3 (hardware emulation PS2 backwards compatibility (Specifically, because it seems to be the internet's general consensus that a software emulated PS2 (E01) would be too heavy for the PS3 to run and stream at the same time.)), set it up with CFW 3.55 and Multiman, take the PSVita and register it with that PS3 as a mobile phone, that I should be able to stream any game the PS3 is playing over my LAN to the Vita. I welcome any thoughts, arguments, or insights into how this may or may not work. I've tried to do as much research as I can on the subject, but I've never run into someone who had the perfect PS3 and a handheld to give me a definitive answer, but all other parts of my idea seem to work. (Its hard since not all PS3s are backwards compatible.) Although if someone can answer it, I'll go collect my pieces to put this together right now ![]() Appreciate your time~ |

From the psvita you could purchase a selection of psx, and psp games, now remote play will not allow you to play anything other than ps3 games, and as I have tested editing the param.sfo to enable remote play for ps3 I can most certainly say it doesn't guarantee any playability whatsoever, take for example Bulletstorm, now it's boots fine but there is no way you could play it but killzone 3 on the other hand works quite well, multiman will not help you here.
Your best bet would be to buy a psp and install custom firmware for your ps1 and psp needs, and buy a backwards compatible 3.55 ps3, for ps2 and ps3, and then wait until Vita becomes cheap, as there isn't anything that will give you what you want. |

(1) Are you using ps3 gen to modify the param.sfo? (2) Do you have a list of what has worked for you so far? I've been trying games over the last few days but have gotten almost none of them to work. |

Hey bgame2, I used paramsfoedit If I remember right, it was a long time back but infamous 1 and 2 work great, killzone 3 played well too as does lair and a few others, I'm away from wifi so I'm struggling to check my previous posts so if you check them I did post a small working list.
