If you kept abreast of recent developments, you'll have read embittered ex-rare employees, dishing on what really happened.

Developers are people too. You take a project someone has dumped their creativity and soul into and cancel it, you might as well be burning your money. Every bit of talent was shown the door, and morons replaced them.

Rareware were killed. By microsoft. Microsoft deserve the massive hit they took (375 mill) and I hope they never make it back.

Nintendo were the right backer for Rare. Nowadays Sony or Microsoft aren't the right backer for anyone unless you're onto a successful gore-fest that already has some semblance of an established fanbase. Otherwise you're just putting a time-bomb on your studios doors.

I'm still not cool with the whole thing. I know I'll never get another banjo kazooie platformer, or a conker game... apparently even the banjo kazooie XBLA releases sold like ****.

Xbox gamers don't care about that kind of developer. Whereas Nintendo fans sit wistful and heartbroken.

I've always been happy with My Nintendos (except wii, waggling only became cool to me with skyward sword), but I've always had the playstation to accompany them. The Playstation used to be my RPG fix. I just think Sony need to be able to take a look at what their company is doing and maybe say... hey. Here's whats missing that we had in previous generations. I don't think gaming has evolved or progressed lately. I just think certain companies are so stuck in their ways... confused about what the market wants.

I'm playing through resi 6 on the 360 atm. I honestly can see where it excels, but it's just such a humdrum game.

Whereas I can load up my gamecube and play the resi remake and still spaz about it. It's inarguably the best resi game ever made... and not enough people played it, because it wasn't available on PS2 at the time. Sad sad fact

It's the same old story wherever you go, some innovator comes up with a great idea and system, it makes a tonne of money that larger companies want a slice of the pie. They buy the right of the guy and then start charging a ****load for the same or even an inferior service than before! That system then survived from the small group of people who still want to use it; or it dies.
The corporations then keep their eyes open for the next big thing.

For instance anime, the japanese studios dont really have any interest in broadcasting or selling ovreseas at all. But anime fans from around the world download the fansub episodes. US broadcasters see which ones are the most popular ones, buy the license from japanese studios and then start shouting that it belongs to them and tries to force fansubs to stop subbing.
The irony being that the fansub translations are far superior to the american subs; if you are lucky for it to get subbed! The americanised versions of anime are usually so bad that even some hardcore fans refuse to watch them cos they are so bad!

Back on-topic, will be interesting to see what all this fuss is about, I mean an actor not being allowed to appear in another company's advert? What's going on. I guess $ony's TOS has spread to the ownership or rather licensing of people now "You work for $ony, $ony now owns you!"

They don't. BK, BT and perfect darks sales were abysmal according to several of the ex rare blokes.

Nuts and bolts sold horribly. Kameo tanked too. All some of the best games on the console.

Xbox gamers are a dull sort. They don't care about variety. they want more of the same, year in, year out. Another assassins creed? yep. Another COD? there ya go. Generic stylized fps with rpg progression elements? (fallout, borderlands, bioshock... can be said for loads more too.) YEP. HAVE THOSE. 3d collectathon platformer??? AHAHAHAHA. GO BACK TO 1998.

Gaming has changed because these loudmouthed morons, who stood up and complained and led to the death of a golden age. The resident evil game I'm playing simply isn't a resident evil game.
