One game runs. And it already ran homebrew after r21.

RPCS3 already ran homebrew. Also, PSP/PS2/PS1 emulation will later be built in to it as well. So it can run homebrew and tons of games.

Good work so far i guess but best not to get too many peoples hopes up, only devs will benefit from this
The PS2 emulator PCSX2? It runs everything I throw at it on a crappy computer (well, crappy compared to most developer rigs I guess). I wouldn't say years too quickly either, as it hasn't taken him that long to get it to play homebrew flawlessly, and run most testing apps/homebrew and pass all tests 100%.

It would be cool if we had a homebrew store type thing for PS3. We have seen lots of attempts, but no releases. The one that was is pretty good, but unfinished.

That and maybe emulate different firmwares. Or maybe emulate different models too.

I wonder if we will see another converter/emulator for the original xbox at some point as it shouldn't be that hard, the thing is practically running on windows with a x86 cpu. Then again the past has shown the closest things are not always the easiest to emulate.
People always say that. That the PS3 is soooo powerful. Keep in mind the PS3's Cell CPU and RSX GPU age, as well as features compared to a PC GPU or a CPU. In the end, the PS3 uses older hardware and doesn't actually have that much more power, nor does it really have any longer lifespan than what Sony has said. They are just stalling so they can "surprise" people with another console and make more money. Those companies start planning the next console the second it hits the store shelves. I know, I use to work for one.

In regards to the Xbox emulation, I think most people realize that most of the original Xbox titles were either also released on PS2 (emulator or 90% of people have PS2's), released on PC, re-released on other consoles (Halo Anniversary), or suck (Charlies Angels PAL). As well as it can be difficult if there aren't a whole lot of consoles like the Xbox. Using 100% proprietary software, as well as mostly PC parts (mostly). Caustik and I had lengthy conversations about Xbox emulation since there are some good titles (and for the sake of completeness there are no Xbox (good), Xbox 360, Vita, 3DS, or Wii U emulators). I think we all want one, but most of us don't want to take the project on ourselves (for whatever reason). I have been thinking of taking up the Dxbx and Cxbx code and trying to finish what those projects started. I happen to know that debug Xbox kits are pretty easy to find, and regular Xbox's are too (obviously). Maybe I will be the one to finish it, who knows...

I've been following this for a while, great strides although as stated "it only runs small apps(included samples)" . None of my apps load, but that's cool, I expect great things from this, and hope the best for the team behind it.

What are you trying to run the apps as? What I mean is, are they SELF, ELF, PKG, etc?

Ok. A lot of people have been trying to use PKG files and other file types. What do the programs do? If you don't mind me asking.

FYI not all comments here are equally serious.

PC got much better and more RAM than PS3 so that in hand brings great power... Of course game emulation shouldn't be possible for state of the art ps3 games.

I guess those guys should start working on a recompiler else it wouldn't be possible in 5+ years. Since an interpreter is WAY!!! To slow.

Just my 2 cents ^^

I'm glad to see the project is still alive and I admire their optimism but I highly doubt the PS3 will ever be emulated even on the level of PS2. Aside from the work involved you'd need a lot of determination, and I just don't see it when so many PS3 games are just PC and 360 ports, and will probably be ported to PS4 in 1080p or 4K

It's not just about power.. it's mainly a problem of complexity. There are simply too many elements to simulate/emulate for it to ever be feasible. IMHO.

I would love to be proven wrong though, and I admire the devs tackling such a holy grail as PS3 emulation. Having that (if successful) on your resume guarantees you a $100k a year job!

Now this is awesome news, me being mostly on my PC, adding the ps3 game collection to the pc in the future is great imo.
