E3 Flasher metldr not supported
I have a Chech L01 PS3 on 3.71. Last month I ordered an E3 flasher. I installed it and made successful backups of the bios. When I tried to flash the downgrade.bin, the clip came loose because of the heat and it stopped in the middle of the downgrade process. I opened the PS3 and realized that the wire was also ripped. I ordered a replacement clip. After the unsuccesful downgrade process the PS3 has no video. I am able to turn it on and off with the front power button, so I don't think it is bricked. I successfully installed the replacement clip.
The first thing I did was reflash my original bios back on there(all switches down). It was successful, but still no video. After this, I put the downgrade.bin file on the micro sd and put the 6th switch up. It gives me an error 11001000. I flashed the samsung update.bin to the e3 flasher and tried again, but I still get the same error. Here is the log: Code:
start logging... One Key downgrade mode. start checking...OK. metldr not supported. |

Make sure the clip is on good, then flash your original bios again. With first switch up and the rest down. If your clip is on good enough, after flashing your original bios, reboot the PS3 with all switches down. Your PS3 should then be restored to before you tried to downgrade. I believe the flashing process didn't work, because your clip wasn't connected good enough. So what it reads for your metldr is not correct. EDIT - Also, are you sure your backup is good? Did you validate it? Maybe upload it here so, someone can check it.

I am sure the backup was good. I haven't tried flashing my original with the 1st switch up, so I am trying that now. If that doesn't work, I will try to re seat the clip. Right now I am avoiding that since I had a very hard time getting it on right. UPDATE: I tried to reflash the original bios and I still get no video. I uploaded all three bio dumps: http://www.mediafire.com/?qq7s0tt299nd746 Last edited by halogamer2145; 10-09-2012 at 07:49 PM. |

The 3rd (bkpps32.bin) looks good, but is not identical. There is a difference in Offset 870C70.

Does that mean that the first two are good dumps? I have never flashed the 3rd dump to my ps3. Should I try to? What could the problem be?

You did rename the file to bkpps3.bin? Strange that there is only one little difference. I would think that the first 2 would be the correct dump. And the clip was starting to loosen for the 3rd. metldr and bootloader are identical in all dumps.

Yes, I renamed it. hmm, I wonder what's wrong. What would you recommend for me to do next? When you put downgrade.bin on the flash drive, do you also put the backup with it? UPDATE: I think I know what the problem is. On top of the clip, I put a large layer of foam to keep it pushed down. I think the problem may be that the chips aren't making good contact with the heatsinks. Will the fans still be on in this situation? Last edited by halogamer2145; 10-09-2012 at 09:05 PM. |

Yes, you put the backup on the sd card along with the e3_downgrade.bin. Then flash it with 1 - 5 switches down and 6th up. Or what I do now is use Rogero's PS3 Nor Dump Patcher. You patch your dump with it, then flash the patched dump with all switches down.
