I dont think it will be "finished" anytime soon.

Tueidj has said many time he plans to port it to WiiU once there is an exploit, as he has inside info on WiiU running on IOS just like a Wii.

I would rather have GC emu with AP than no GC emu on WiiU because someone cracked his AP. (I doubt anyone will crack his AP).

I had an idea... But I have absolutely no idea whether it works or not because there are a lot of "ifs" in it and it also requires a lot of cooperation from many trustworthy people... Anyway, here it goes... If DEVOLUTION works with Sneek, then someone can create a clean Sneek image with a certain serial number! That image can be downloaded by many people who can use Sneek. That way the .dvv files that are going to be created by all these consoles who use the same image will be usable by anyone... or not...?

.DVV's are tied to more than just the system ID. date, time, disc id.. possibly mac address, wii name....etc

Tueidj is very smart.

AP made by a hacker would be (in my opinion) harder to crack than usual.

EDIT:
Few pieces of info i found:

Is it possible to get Devolution to run with uneek/sneek?

Edit: It seems it is. I put The Wind Waker on an SD card and got it running with uneek2o (booted the Devolution loader with PostLoader). First I tried to launch a game from USB, which didn't work. I guess this is because it is unable to use the USB drive, because uneek is using it. Is that correct? Also I wonder, is Devolution now using the IOS58 from my virtual NAND? (I am really curious about how things work internally)
Neek redirects <28, 58 and >200 to IOS56, therefore Devolution is running on IOS56 and clear they two could not use the USB at the same time (would be conflictive), and I think Neek blocks the USB access for other apps.
I guess I'll just launch Devolution from my real NAND then, so I can use a USB hard disk. Sadly I can't even read apps from my USB drive if I use sneek2o, which should be possible according to ModMii.

I can't get this to work (nor DML).
When I run Devolution nothing appears in my GC game list, although I have a few on my SD://games folder...

Edit: by linking the loder.bin to USB Loader GX, when I try to load a GC game, screen goes black for a few seconds and then it loads the homebrew channel.

Edit 2: As I wrote in my thread, managed to solve Devolution issue. It requires BC v6. No improvement on the DML end...

A new build came out on November 16th, but it wasn't marked with a new revision number. Could have something to do with them having early access to the wii-u.

----

On a side note, does anybody have the very early versions/first version released?

Devolution is unique in that at least the beginning it was written from scratch with no external dependencies. Another way of saying this is it would be reasonable to follow the execution path to see unique way it enters GC mode on the wii, take that execution path and put dios mios in instead. Allowing it to benefit from the resources and privileges Devolution has, such as not requiring being loaded as a cmios. Unless I'm mistaken on how it works, as I'm not really familiar with these things in detail.

I've followed a small portion of Devolution in dolphin/ida and I think an older version which doesn't have areas dedicated to all the wii-u, pso modem ect code in random parts distracting from the essential areas , could be easier to disassemble and statically analyze for somebody else or myself at a later date. It would probably be easier to find the audio streaming code/trick also. Or in the case of people mentioning in the thread, the dvv file code, though if dios mios could be made to work like devolution, then that becomes irrelevant.

At least those are my thoughts.

From what I can tell on the gbatemp forums:

12-19-2012 r169 was released, no changelog http://www.tueidj.net/gc_devo.zip
12-16-2012 r168 was released , no changelog

For those who might want them, I have builds from
11-16-2012 r168
10-26-2012 r165
07-19-2012 r101

If anybody has any earlier builds please pm me.

Interesting thread. I've been trying to hack Devolution as well. Haven't had much success, however, I've learned a few things. I tried was copying a .DVV over to my computer, then wait awhile, then copy it back to my HDD. Surprisingly it worked! Devolution ran without the need to reverify the disc. Also the .DVV definitely has something to do with your specific HDD because the file wouldn't work with a different HDD. I'm guessing it has a lot to do with your Wii as well. I've also cracked the first part of each .DVV file (it's pretty much common sense). The very first part consists of the Game ID, then there is a bunch of blank space, then there is a "Āze" (or C2 7A 65). Everything after "Āze" just confuses me because there is no discernible pattern. But anyway...I'm sure anyone who's tried hacking Devolution has already figured this out.

I do have a few ideas though...I'm curious to know if it is possible to trick Devolution to read an ISO for verification, instead of the retail game disc. If someone could trick it into reading the same ISO that it's verifying wouldn't that let create the necessary .DVV file?

Also what are the chances of figuring out how to recreate a program similar to Devolution, just minus the AP? I mean the loader itself is only 74 kilobytes, and it was created by just one dev. I'm guessing all the program does is trick your MIOS into loading an ISO instead of a disc. Anyway I want to contribute all I can into hacking Devolution, and I do believe that it can be hacked! If DIOS MIOS hadn't been released Devolution would probably already have AP disabled. So many people are content with DIOS MIOS that they feel is no need to even bother with Devolution. I know the same would go for me if my stupid HDD wasn't incompatible with DIOS MIOS.
