PS3 Jailbreak.

Hello,
My model name is CECH-2508B/PS3 320GB.
Version is 4.0.0.When I bought it version was 3.60.
Can i jailbreak it with E3 flasher?
What are the pros and cons?As some say its not advisable.
Please explain in detail.

I am so jealous all my friends play each game for 1$[pirated] and I play each for like 40-60$.As here in India you would hardly find anyone playing original cds.

Please help me is there any solution to this? Its irritating.

P.S So basically it will downgrade it to 3.55?

Thanks

According to this and your PS3 model #:
http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/SKU_Models

You should be okay with downgrading to 3.55.

P.S Here red is like you can't do it right?

I am really confused as some say you can, others say I can't and the rest say its stupid. The local shops say they can but i don't trust them.

This post will look at the different DATE-CODES that are present on the casing of a PS3 and if that DATE-CODE relates to a console version that can currently be downgraded from 3.70 to 3.55 using dospiedra’s V2 downgrade or a FAT console alternative.

DATE-CODES

The principle behind DATE-CODES is simple: the first character represent the YEAR, and the second character represents the QUARTER of that year it that console was manufactured.

DATE-CODE of “XY” would mean the console was manufactured in the “Y” QUARTER of YEAR “X”. Simple right?

6A - Downgradable (Never Produced?)
6B - Downgradable (Never Produced?)
6C - Downgradable (Never Produced?)
6D - Downgradable
7A - Downgradable
7B - Downgradable
7C - Downgradable
7D - Downgradable
8A - Downgradable
8B - Downgradable ( CECH-2508B)
8C - Downgradable
8D - Downgradable
9A - Downgradable
9B - Downgradable
9C - Downgradable (Slim Introduction?)
9D - Downgradable
0A - Downgradable
0B - Downgradable
0C - Downgradable
0D - Downgradable
1A - Downgradable (Factory Firmware 3.55 and lower only!)
1B - NOT Downgradable
1C - NOT Downgradable (Not out yet?)
1D - NOT Downgradable (Not out yet?)
3000 series cannot be downgradeable either

this is the list you can downgrade or not, only 1A you cannot downgrade if its factory firmware is above 3.55

The Date code can be found in the following locations (depending on your console type):

PS3 FAT: Sticker on the back.
PS3 Slim (CECH2 Series): Sticker on the bottom.
PS3 Slim (CECH3 Series): Sticker on the back.

I'm confused. alienkid says it cant be downgraded but the list given by aviz1911 says it can. I'm about to buy the same model and i need to be sure whether it can be hacked. I dont know what firmware it will have. @Krut were you able to crack it?

Run minvercheck in my sig and avoid this confusion.

If it comes back as 3.55 you are golden, if it comes back 3.60 you are stuck.

IMHO you are stuck.

Simple, yet you got it so wrong.

The date code is NOT the last 2 digits of the serial.

My app (under "WMPDT355?" in my sig) checks date codes, and by your incorrect method it says yes it will downgrade. The date code is separate from the serial:

As you can see on this image it says its a CECH-2004A on the serial ... the date code is not 4A!! its 9C under "DATE CODE"!!

On EU machines its stamped 2 digits, on US machines its also expressed as a date like "10/12" - my app works for both datecode types.

Try it out.

BTW the 8B in the serial/model: CECH-2508B refers to:

The region:
Regioning

Last two numbers in the CECHxxXX SKU name
8 = 08 Russia, Ukraine, India, Central Asia ru
http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/SKU_Models#Regioning

And the B = sku identifier for which HDD size (IIRC): for example my 320gb is a CECH-2503B: 03 = UK, B = 320gb (or 250gb, where as A would = 120gb or 160gb).

EVERY SLIM PS3 serial/modal number has either an A or a B at the end of it.
