Sony and Olympus form alliance

The Japanese technology giant will take an 11.5% stake in Olympus in return for the 50bn yen ($640m; £397m)investment.

The two firms will also set up a company together later this year, which will be 51%-owned by Sony, to work on developing new businesses.

This might be related to that patent

The PS Move vibrates doesn't it? By adding hot and cold it's the complete package for a chick that wants...

Anyway, I'm hoping $ony doesn't keep the same design for DualShock IV, as DS3 seemed to have been done in a rush and incomplete. Surprise me, $ony.

Another link on that fronted news story

http://www.businessweek.com/news/201...-official-says

The two companies will form a joint venture to make endoscopes and other medical devices, according to finance ministry filings yesterday. Olympus is the world’s largest endoscope maker with a 70 percent market share.

Sony, the maker of PlayStation game consoles and Cyber-shot cameras, wants to speed up a move into health equipment by using the edge its image sensors have over rivals, Hirai said in April. Sony’s medical business has the potential to be one of its main sources of profit in the future, he said.

It's a shame that's Sony registering those patents, because you know all they want is to bleed people dry with usage fees.

Well, to be fair, it won't be there by then ("obsolete"), unless you buy a new one/keep upgrading the current one.

I already have my next upgrade planned for January. Piledriver 6 core if it is better than bulldozer, and 2 7970s I already have 16 gig of ram and piledriver uses the same socket as I have now. I like overkill but I see your point

It's a wiser choice to upgrade a PC than buy a console, unless the games are exclusive to the console or are console-only for some reason.

Even if they're console only at some point someone will start to develop an emulator of the console(s).
