So many things I want to say but I won't. I have a daughter. People are lucky this girl wasn't the daughter of someone like me. The worst part about the internet is that it's a breeding ground for cowards and internet warriors alike. People have gone soft. A lot of these heartless comments to her and about her need to be met in kind with a heartless fist to the throat. If you don't have anything nice to say then why say anything? This whole situation probably could have been avoided by following just that small bit of advice. Most likely this was done to her by people out of their own insecurities. Finally, they have something they see as weaker than themselves that they exploit to make them forget how miserable their own lives are. That's the epitome of weakness. I googled this girls name and the first thing I seen was a picture of her boobs. Sickening. All the insensitivity surrounding this thing is just another example of the sad state the world is in. There is a definite loss of humanity. I can guarantee this girl will be remembered much longer than any assh0les opinion.

Actually suicidal people put up with WAY more than you give them credit for. What you should be saying is "attention seekers" are conformists and weak.

Who the hell do you think you are stating suicidal people are weak? How would you know?

What if there's someone who without medication, because of a chemical imbalance in their brain, wakes up in the mornings wishing their heart wasn't beating? It has nothing to do with past events in their lives (although painful memories do make it worse) it is called a case of manic depression and it happens naturally and randomly and can be genetic. It is an illness and people have it. Its people like you who are the conformists who just think "Oh they want to kill themselves? They just cant handle life and want an easy way out". Stop and think of the following for a second...What if life to them is a totally different ball game than what life is to you? Did you ever stop to think that?

As for this girl anyone calling her a ***** for whatever reason have you guys never made a mistake in your life? EVERYONE makes mistakes and all mistakes have a price some are big prices and some are small . This girl made a mistake of posting a topless pic on the net and the price was high. Did she deserve to die because of that? She slept with some guy who she though liked her...that happens all the time to young girls being led on by *******s. Did she deserve to die for that?

If anyone is answering yes to these questions you have bigger issues than this girl had in my opinion. This poor girl had it bad and was trying to make things right over and over until she was forced to a conclusion that she didn't belong in this world and left.

Could not have said it better. Whats ironic is people who bully and make fun of these people like this girl, don't even subconsciously know why they are doing it. If they knew anything about themselves and got in touch with WHY they are having these negative feelings towards people like this girl, they would find out that THEY are the ones that like attention and when they see these people getting tons of it, they grow a sense of jealousy disguised as a valid opinion. Makes me sick

Sometimes life is cruel and harsh and a simple lapse in judgement can haunt you. Add to that the cruelty of youth, cell phones and social network sites and its easy to see how that one lapse in judgement could easily turn a persons world upside down.

Its just a different world today than it was when I was growing up. All parents need to be vigilant to ensure something similar not happen to their own child.

I first heard about this a few days ago. It was a very sad story indeed. Though I remember seeing a lot of these types of videos on the youtubes where suicidal kids/teens go online with flash cards with their problems.

On another strange note, it's anti-bullying month here in Canada. She was a resident of Vancouver, BC. Coincidental? A bit I guess. I'm not trying to downplay her situation at all. I feel for her and her family. I've witnessed hateful acts in high school myself but never as extreme as the teenagers of today. You have the internet where you can be anonymous if you want, but these people chose to be straight on in your face with it.

I was trying to say... (this is my honest opinion) this is kind of like how conspiracy theorists were turning the Batman movie theater shooting into a giant government conspiracy how they weren't really murdered and it was all set up. To me this Amanda Todd incident rings the same bell. Anti-bullying month and a teen suicide because of bullying. I just see it as a strange coincidence, that's all. I notice odd patterns.

Suicide, is not 'weak'. I think it takes a lot of guts to accomplish. I've contemplated it many years ago, and I think of myself as weak for not being able to go through with it. I'm more than happy I didn't have the power to do so, it's a selfish thing to do also. I say it takes more strength to do because you have your whole life to leave behind, as well as the impact on the people who actually care about you. It may seem like there is nobody out there who cares about you but there is somebody out there somewhere.

I can't speak about having the illnesses but I've felt where I was all alone and there was nobody else in the world I could talk to or reach out to and it's a bad situation.

This also reminds me of that video of the older woman on the school bus where the kids where taunting her for 8+ minutes telling her she should kill herself and that she was fat and her husband doesn't love her and they would cut her etc etc etc. What the funk is wrong with the youths today?

People should take a good, LONG look at themselves before they judge others.

The people who carry out attacks such as these are the weak, pathetic individuals. Not the ones who take their own lives.

Actually, in saying that and reading other people's comments, there is (to a degree) a bit of weakness. Although it goes with what I think @japsander may have said about there being a tolerance level for everybody that's different from person to person.

How much taunting, threats, and attacks can YOU take before you 1) kill yourself or 2) kill the people who are attacking you? But that's a completely different debate.....

Todd wrote that during the next Christmas break, police informed her at 4:00 am that the photo was circulating the Internet. Todd wrote that she experienced anxiety, depression, and panic disorder because of this. Her family moved to a new home, where Todd later stated that she began using drugs and alcohol
Perhaps because of her age she felt what she felt but i know alot of women who would kill for that kind of exposure...

How much taunting, threats, and attacks can YOU take before you 1) kill yourself or 2) kill the people who are attacking you? But that's a completely different debate.....
I would never kill myself but i would get emo if a crowd of people (around my physical space not on the internet) began harassing me. Theres a kind of fear you go through if a crowd is hostile towards you because you feel powerless and vulnerable....(+ if they just tease you thats one thing but if they try to physically harm you thats another)
A year later the individual reappeared, creating a Facebook profile which used the topless photograph as the profile image, and contacting classmates at her new school. Again Todd was teased, eventually changing school for a second time. She wrote that she began chatting to "an old guy friend" who appeared to her. The friend asked Todd to come to his house where they had sex while his girlfriend was on holiday.[12] The following week the girlfriend and a group of others attacked Todd at school; shouting insults and punching her to the ground. Following the attack, Todd attempted suicide by drinking bleach, but was rushed to hospital to have her stomach pumped.
Im not gonna say she deserved what she got because the wiki article doesnt say if she knew the old guy friend had a gf but since the gf found out id say thats a pretty understandable reaction from the gf. I think everybody goes through some**** in their lifetime, some more than others but to me commiting suicide ( i wont say its a weak act) is selfish (considering there are people who go through worse than what you go through and they don't kill themselves). I always tell people i enjoy my meaningless life no matter how odd that may seem to them

We all just differ in opinion, and since this is a sensitive subject for many some comments may seem insensitive, disrespectful or malicious when
the person who posted them did not intend for them to be.

Some people just can't for the life of them sugarcoat things or pick and choose their words carefully.

I can understand the greif Amanda felt, but I can't honestly say I feel
any sort of pity or sympathy for the girl (if she were still alive it would
be different).

Its not because I'm a heartless ****** bag, its because I'm an individual who's life was shaped by his own actions and the experiences therefor
my opinion will differ because of that very fact (as will yours).

Amanda did a very selfish thing, so I can see why some people in this
thread went ahead and ignore the respect you usually give the dead
and decided to speak their mind without giving a second thought to
what they said and how they said it.

Unless you are a family member of Amanda's, I don't see a reason to lose respect for someone based on their opinion of the matter unless of course
you know for a fact they are just trolling or looking to be blatantly
malicious and disrespectful.

Just my two cents.

If you all must know, my HS sweet heart killed herself because of bullying in HS.

I was bullied too for standing up for her, so when she killed herself you can only imagine how upset I was to find out she had left me here all alone.

Amanda's parents probably hate those that bullied their daughter, but they didn't kill her, she did it herself.

Bullying is horrible, I know first hand how horrible it is and how miserable it feels to be bullied, but you don't let them win like this...

Amanda...sigh...you could of been stronger for all the others who have
been bullied, like I have, and like all the others who are survivors of
bullying.

I just watched that vid you linked and got so full of rage afterwards. What a tragic way for somebody to lose their offspring. If I lost one of my children in this manor I would probably fall to pieces and go all michael douglas like that film falling down. R.I.P Amanda Todd
