Optimizing the PS3 power supply
Hi guys,
trying to optimize my hifi-components I asked myself, why the PS3 used to watch BD's is still not optimized. What I want to achieve is the best quality in sound and video. One of the most important things in hifi-performance is the power supply, which I of course had to inspect right now. I see there are some things, which can be optimized, the diodes are not the fastest ones, althoug I wondered about the relative high dimensioning (200V and 400V on line - 1000V diodes). The capacitors are an industrial standart, which also might be optimized for a better performance. The target is to achieve stable and clean DC. Are there some recommendations for optimizing the power supply or did anybody think about it? By the way, it's a EADP-200DP power supply. Many thanks, Stammheim

Now that would be great, Making a Power brick much like the 360's would make more room and Keep the internals Cooler, We could add an extra Fan that way. The Phat PS3's would have a much improved lifespan if we did this, and added the Slims better fan to it.

No problem to make the PSU external... Just build a enclosure to it and connect some wires. But where is the benefit???
You even lose the aktive cooling by the PS3-internal cooler. It doesn't matter to the cooler if it just flows by the power supply or not ![]() Here is a thread in german about a tuned PS3 in German language. Unfortunatelly I don't know which parts are changed within the psu. So nobody who worked with the psu? I think an optimization might be important for anybody using the PS3 as a BD-player and wants to reach the best quality. |
