Hey all ,

Im kinda new to the ps3 scene but have downgraded and flashed many psp's which seem similiar to the ps3 flashing process . I may be asking noobish questions sorry lol, but i just want to clairify some things and see were the scene is for this console and what not .

I have done some reading on this and looked thru the differant threads but have no definate answer on if I am right on this or not so here is goes .

I have just bought my first ps3 from gamestop other day its the Ultra Slim/Super Slim the one with the top loading disk reader . I checked the back of the console and it has a console version of : CHECH-4001B . When I looked at the guide to downgrading consoles it did not list my console version in the list nor did it even talk about this console .

So my few questions are :

1. I dont think i can downgrade this console by software means but is there a device that will allow me to do this like a piece of hardware or modchip ?

2. Is this console a piece of crap and i should have gotten a regular fat console or slim ? ( I was thinking about getting the newest bug free console at time of buy so i figured this BRAND NEW model would have all the qwerks worked out )

3. If nothing can be done to this thing is it just like the psp scene ? ( Just wait until the cracked FW scene catches up to the newer updates and soon it may be downgradable to a hackable FW version like on psp ?)

Thanks for all your time guys and i hope this isnt one of those threads that has been answered a million times lol . I didnt see much in this area of the forums talking about it .

The new ps3s are not downgradeable by software or hardware unfortunately.
Should've gotten the old slim version modelnr below 3K.

All you can do is hope for a higher firmware CFW like the rest of us.

Thats because its brand new and anything newer than second half of the year 2500's cant be downgraded or jailbroken. So my few questions are : 1. Only 3.55 or DEX consoles can downgrade by software, and no you cant downgrade this console. Even with hardware. 2. It has been answered a lot of times before, but not a million times, because the 4k series is only a few weeks old. But its common knowledge that they cant be downgraded or jailbroken.

Sorry.

Sell it and get one that can be jailbroken, or keep it and enjoy playing all the latest games, and having PSN/SEN without the risk of losing it.

Just like a PSP, it cannot be downgraded below its original firmware.

It's never a good idea to grab the latest revision when it comes to hacking. Well, almost never. This is why it is a great idea to research before buying.

Dump the flash of it anyway, some people on ps3downgrade would like to have a look at the dump

How is he supposed to do that without cfw? software or hardware aren't supported on the new ps3 right..

Hellz yea , well i guess i can just play the hell outa it till somthin happens with it . Ill nab a hardware flasher for it and dump it then . Maybe it will help out and then when **** does happen on it ill already have a hardware flasher for it .

Maybe while i wait ill find some slims that are on a good firmware to be used for hacking .

So if i were to find a new console sometime down the line that is decent priced what would i be looking for ? Does it have to have a certain version FW on it or is it just the console number that matters now ?

Mine is a CECH-2503B with Kmeaw CFW. Thankfully it had firmware 3.5 on it when I bought it.

You can not downgrade or hack that model yet. DO NOT buy a flasher it will be useless to you.
