Yes you can do a core dump but that you also can do in system software or release mode not only in debugger mode.

Then the core dump only save the CORE of the game and the loaded correspotending sprx's like liblv2, liblv2coredump ect., ect.,. But you wont find any other fw file like lv1, lv2 or bootldr in it.

Bootldr run in isolated mode and is stored in local store of the spu. Just think guys,...after reseting the con isolated spu get cleared and bootldr reloaded and re-executed aspecially after a crash which make's the con unuseable.

If you now think i or neahrwert or any other is fooling you do you home work about the ps3 and how she works and at the end you will see that this can not work.
Meh, that's what was bugging me.
As long as you have to reboot the console all the data would get reset and core dump can't dump the bootldr or any local storage, that's why i was gunning for an alternative method(since it does exist).

If you can power the NAND/NOR and slow down the CPU then it would be possible to make a dump of the NOR/NAND while its shutting down.

No. Stop. Please. You can't use lv0 to dump to the hdd. The problem is, you're looking in the wrong place,

Completely possible but it would require additional skills, hardware and soldering making this even harder to test.

@master737373 care to give some pointers?

Haven't tried that. I haven't messed with the whole "shutting down" process.

That's if you just want to decrypt lv0 without bootldr.

Well...hmmm. Lemme get back to you on that.

Edit: nah, you can't.

And what shall this flash dump contain ?? Your encrypted bootldr ?? Hell bootldr is in local storage. The local storage is a memory storage in size of 256kb and INSIDE the cell. Not on HDD, not in Flash, not in RAM.

Is it now clear ??

The thing is, the wiki has info on it that's blocked off to people without certain..."priviledges." And I doubt the wiki has this info.
