ok that makes sense. so its the same as using bd-mirror in multiman which certain games already require to work with 3.55 but now all games will use it.

what about our eboots that we currently have fixed to work with 3.55 will they need to be replaced back with the originals? or can we keep the fixed eboots. as 3.55<4.21 so they should supposedly work still...right?

and from what i gather once we install this update we can't go back to 3.55cfw without a hardware downgrader correct.

sorry about all these question's. just want to clarify as much as possible before making this big leap. and I'm sure others are curious to.

Well, I think I bricked. Here's what I did:

First off I have an original 60 gig fatty. One of the first 500,000 at launch. I believe I've never downgraded, and I'm on 3.55 kmeaw.

First I made a nand backup with multiman. I FTP'd it to my computer.
I then setup the files on the usb stick. The toggle_qa.pkg on the root and rogero's CFW under PS3/UPDATE and renamed to PS3UPDAT.PUP
I ran toggle and checked it under network settings. Even though I'm quite sure I never downgraded, I did this just to be safe. All is well so far.
Booted into recovery mode and chose update. Update finished and my samsung showed a blue screen. I can no longer get into recovery or anything. I thought at first it might be the video was reset, but it's totally unresponsive. Just putting this out there for others. I'm going to play with it a little longer, but it's not looking good. Looks like I need a flasher.

it is sounding very hit an miss at the moment.
you and some others are bricking with systems that should supposedly work no dramas. but I've also seen a few who have got it to work where it is reported that they would of got bricked.

perhaps your ps3 is too old!! lol

Is that required for all 3.55 modified eboots or just the homebrew? (I got mixed signals on that one..)

Is there any homebrews that don't work so far?

Is there anything this isn't capable of in comparison to kmeaw? (like uh I dunno just basic funtions typically required...)

I'm trying to dump my nand. I installed asbestos_ldr.g.pkg. But I don't know what compile the client is??? I changed the I.P. to my ps3's in main.cpp and saved it. I don't have metldr. Where can I get metldr?

More than likely yes.

I would revert any fixes back to default "vanilla" and apply the most up to date update patch for the game.
