Sorry to make you look, but this may be the only way for me to get people to actually read this. I have been warning people to not install this new cfw without having a flasher. Obviously people havent read or dont care to listen because the brick count keeps racking up. Here is one of my posts from last night. To everyone....I strongly discourage you from installing this cfw UNLESS you have the means to fix your console if it bricks I.e hardware flasher. Let us with hardware flashers get all the bugs worked out and also to establish a fool proof install guide for you guys that don't have a flasher. That way we can prevent all these bricks. This great news for the scenE can turn really ugly really quick if we get a 1000 users trying to install it blindly. Be patient

the vast majority are impatient and will upgrade. Im happy on DEX, everything is working and I can play all these games already. I'll upgrade once everyone else is bricked but this thread will soon fade away into oblivion.

I think its mainly the newbies who don't have a clue or rush in to things.

So far I have done 3 consoles since last night and they are running Rogero CFW 4.21 100% with no problems.

1st console 120gb slimline was on rogero 3.6
2nd console Phat CECHK03 was on official firmware 4.11 now running CFW 4.21
3rd console 320gb slimline was on official 4.25 now running CFW 4.21

Its not rocket science.

Downgrade with E3 to rogero 3.6 then install toggle.qa run toggle qa make sure you get beeps turn off console start console in recovery menu install official 3.55 start console make sure its OK.
Turn off console start console in recovery menu and install rogero cfw 4.21
Simple
I can't see how people are getting bricks

My only guess is that they have a bad download.

Everyone needs to know how to dehash the damn console. Even with a flasher, many forget this crucial step. (and then you need to re-do all the work..)

Software-only dehash can be done with QA flag pkg. Flash using recovery menu only!

yes correct anymore bricks and we can build a block of flats , wait and see the e-flasher prices go through the roof with folk trying to get one to unbrick there ps3s when they havent backed up the nor and nand dumps to get it working again a lot of ps3s going on ebay soon for parts soon i suppose

Good question, and i'm not sure about this. Probably many are in the same situation as me, with no flasher.. (and i'm on a FAT NAND with lots of wires to solder..aargh)

- In the good 'ol days, i don't know if i ever used my phone as a dongle(FSM MODE) to go from 3.55 to 3.41.
- Maybe i did, but not 100% sure.
- I did 'jailbreak' 3.41 using my phone untill patched firmwares came out.
- I did use kmeaw 3.55
- Everything after that, was flashed in recovery mode.
- This includes some MFW pups i built for myself, Rebug 3.55.x etc.
- I have QA flag enabled.

I think in such cases (console still running 3.55 based cfw), it would be enough to:
- Ensure you are on 3.55 cfw
- Toggle QA flag to ON
- Enter FSM mode with the tool of your choice (condorstrike, or dongle/phone etc.)
- Follow 'reFSM steps' on the wiki, just to be sure, and reflash 3.55 OFW

Thing is, not all current '3.55 ps3' owners have original upgrade path intact, and the console was bought on ebay or similar, and hardware-downgraded at some point. And then the seller installed rogero 3.55 based, with syscon checks disabled, and never rehashed the system.

I think the key is here is getting on OFW 3.55 once here you are good to go.

Just for the fun of it I bricked a console to see, went from rogero 3.6 straight to OFW 3.55 and now its bricked.
So I repeat again if you have downgraded from 3.56+ with hard ware then dehash with toggle qa. It wont do any harm to do it any way even if you are not sure.
