Yes, you guys beg for keys and firmware from devs so you can play games free with those things which i call it **** ( because you guys know how to make it work and i don't ). As for me, we are call moron and idiot and dont know how to use search button. Wait a minute why you guys dont use the search button and PS3wiki to get the key and make the firmware??? Instead insult the devs for not releasing what they know.

My point here is that there are different grade of intelligent people on the forum please help those who don't know, we are the same as you HOMEBREW who does not buy all the games from sony. just that you guys know how to do it when you have the keys and firmware but not us ( so we choose the easier way out buying dongle. But we are call moron and idiot because we dont know how ) You guys call yourself homebrew because you guys know how to do it when given the keys and firmware. What is the differnet between you and me (does not buy from sony)?

Saw your rant, it was funny, you raise good points and it is generally laughable the bulls*it they write about without any real information/fact to back it up (not even talking about those in the sensationalism department).
However, I disagree with some of the things you pointed out in red. No offense, but you were wrong about some of the facts, and here's a little correction
First block is pretty much right all the way, the bit about piracy is true, even though it was not fail0verflow's motive or direct consequence, it still was an indirect consequence, and like they said "it allowed for a new wave of piracy".. yes, piracy was there with psjailbreak, and having CFW (thanks to fail0verflow exploits) allowed the CFW users to have the same piracy as the ones with dongles had, just without any dongles. It is their job to report facts, and that is a fact, whether we like/agree with it or not. It's not their job to defend the good will of a hacker team. Also, explaining in more detail what fail0verflow's involvment was and meant and how it eventually lead to cfw with peek&poke that allowed backup managers to inject the psjailbreak payload through software is kind of out of scope for their article and would have made it just longer for no reason.

Second block, they did say that the passphrase was leaked and that PSN was reenabled before lv0 keys were leaked, so they were not wrong.. they were wrong in saying "passphrase" security protocol... it's not a security protocol, it's just a passphrase for the protocol, but that's just me nit picking on semantics. As for the second paragraph, it's perfectly fine, it's true in every word. It does pose a new threat, and they don't say that it only allows psn, they say it allows decryption of any future firmware, which is true, and yes, this poses a threat to psn because new passphrase means that people won't have to wait for the new passphrase to be "leaked" again, they can just grab it directly since the firmware can be decrypted. As for them concentrating on the psn only, well, yes, the cfw gives more options, but not too many and talking about all the implications is again out of scope for their article. Don't forget that their news is tailored for users who are worried about one specific thing (first block was worried about piracy, second one about psn and cheats).

Third block is just lol! You said you were nit picking, and you're right, but yeah, we can assume a typo, it happens, it's not "bad journalism" it's just "human nature", but they should have double checked, I agree! I have a friend journalist who told me he saw the news and also thought it was the "tuskateers" until he did his own research and found that it was Musketeers. Anyways, it's funny!

Thanks for this rant btw, I feel your frustration and I sometimes have it with every news site (even the hacking sites, especially the ones that add "this could lead to cfw" for any news ever produced)...

Having a CFW doesn't mean that you are a pirate and you will only hack on MP. Only a retarded 5 years old kid would hack on MP or the one who want's to get banned faster.

For me CFW is just to test the games if they are worth money and my time.
Games like Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank, Army of Two and some others are the games I would really pay for. Especially for the upcoming Beyond, Tomb Raider and The Last Of Us.

If you like it, buy it! Maybe 50$ is much for you but not for the devs. Making games is very expensive.

Well they made it look like 4.25CFW brought back access to CFW users, we have had PSN access on 3.55 for many months, so 4.25CFW hasn't done anything we didn't have before.

Actually though, although annoyingly incorrect in some parts. Relatively speaking the article is pretty darn good for a "mainstream" website. There's been some real stinkers in the past that make this look like something Issac Newton turned out the day after that apple landed on his head
