This is what happens to me too. You need to use a dongle to go into service mode and downgrade. There is a rar archive that contains the needed files and it has a special update that is 3.41 but it makes your ps3 think it is 3.56. After you go into service mode, You put this update in the root of a usb drive with the lvl2diag1 file( make sure the update is called PS3UPDAT.PUP , put the usb into your ps3 turn it on and wait until it turns itself off. Now take your usb and delete the update and put any cex update lower than 3.41 on it and again put the usb into your ps3 turn it on and wait until it turns itself off. Now put the lvl2diag2 file on the root of your usb, put the usb into your ps3 and once again turn it on. It will turn itself off after a few seconds and you are done, you now have a cex ps3 again. Just do a normal update to the firmware of your choice. EDIT: This process will erase everything on your internal hdd so you should use a different hdd if you do not want to loose that data. For example you are on brick 3.55 dex now take out your hdd and put in the other, then do the process and exit service mode, upgrade to any 3.55 cex FW. Put your 1st hdd back in and re install the cex fw you just installed. You now have converted back to cex with no data loss at all. Last edited by butnut; 10-23-2012 at 01:54 AM. |

Just went through this. It's a easy fix.
Start by using a jig and psgrade to get into factory service mode. Unplug ps3, plug it in, plug in the jig and then power eject. PS3 will turn on do the beeps and turn off. Unplug your jig and plug in a usb with two files on it; the lv2diag.self 1 (300 something kb) and rogero 3.55 3.7 cfw. This has the syscon hash check disabled so it will install. Plug the usb in the right most port and turn the ps3 on and after a few minutes the ps3 will then turn off. Plug the usb back into your computer and check the log to ensure it was successful (you can also turn on the ps3 after you disconnect the usb to ensure it boots into the xmb) and if so delete the files. Place lv2diag.self 2 on the usb (5kb) and plug into ps3 and power on. If all goes well you will be out of factory service mode and back to retail. Next you want to dehash either one of two ways, the qa flag method or the factory service mode method (both are explained on the dev wiki). This ensures that you can install unpatched firmwares (such as kmeaw and what not) without bricking. |

adriel, theres a link in someone's downgrading tutorial on this site. I cannot remember which tutorial it was. If you do a google site search you should be able to find the two you need.
Makina, take a look around you can use other electronics (certain android phones, iphones, ti-84 calculators, etc.). If you have any of these components you would not need a jig. |

Hello
Stupidly I find myself in this position of the siren noise (10 beeps?) Anyhow, I use a pspjig and start it, the psp outputs: Code:
--snip-- USB attached - USB connecter. Requesting jig challenge... Challange received 00 01 FF...... Calculating response... Sending response: 00 00 FF...... Sent response: 00 00 FF..... Done. USB detached - Retirer At this point is that good, and worked as it should? Because then I put Lv2diag.self (366kb) & PSPUPDAT.PUP (Rogero 3.7) on different usb stick plug into PS3 and turn on. I expect it to take a while 'doing it's stuff', but I just get the siren (again..10 beeps?) and it shuts down. This part hasn't worked? Because I take out usb and change Lvdiag.self (366kb) for Lvdiag.self (4kb) and delete PS3UPDAT, plug into PS3, but no joy... That's my tale... anyone help me bring it back to life? --EDIT-- Forgot to post the two files I got on the usb stick when I first tried to flash back to CEX: factory.txt: Click here to see full text
