Well, it was expected. But anyway, while people/scene groups keeps releasing patched executables (eboot.bin's) for 3.55 (and 4.21 in some future :D) it's not hard to decrypt and resign them using PS3 SDK.

Oh well, it was strange that sony didn't implement already an eid5 check but, in any case, it's not really a big deal.
Dex users can still play all the games released up until now and with lv0 pwned we have just to wait for the appldr keys to be released to resign all the future eboots(see Resident Evil 6).
Plus all those people who have a nor console(like me ) can easily reconvert to cex without too many problems if needed.

Well most likely $ony delayed this kill switch on purpose.

Before this week the only way yo play most pirated games was on DEX consoles I believe. So waiting longer would mean more peopel would update to their CEX to DEX, and then when they release this they would be able to removed a lot of hacked consoles from the wild.

$ony will go as low as they require to get what they want, hence why you should boycott all new $ony products.

I call bull****. I think some scene dev with a dex would have confirmed this. Alos if Sony is intentionally bricking consoles, hacked or not, they may face a big lawsuit that I honestly dont think that they would win (even though they usually always win). Regardless of what Sony may think the hardware is yours, it isnt licensed to you, and you dont have to bow before them and start holding a lil something smething in your mouth but the truth is that console belongs to the person that paid out the cash to OWN it.

They could hit you with that good ol' reverse engineering clause in the ToS but it still doesn't give them they right to brick your hardware. It does give them the right to seek legal action.

I may be wrong but at this point a good enough lawyer could argue destruction of private property which is a criminal offense. Sony may be a bunch of *******s, but they aren't stupid.

To the OP....at least mark your thread title as RUMOR

Edit: I went back and read it again. So there are reports of scene devs bricking with DEX 4.30 OFW, but it hasn't been leaked. Any of the devs I have talked to have never mentioned 4.30 DEX firmware. None of them have ever mentioned 4.25 DEX on their boxes. So how can we take this seriously without any type of confirmation of this rumor. I think by now a dev with a real DEX would have grabbed the download link via proxy, downloaded the pup, then flashed it to a convert or handed it out behind the scenes to one of the many other devs with a dex convert. When I see actually sources confirming it I will believe it, but until then everyone just stay safe and mark this as one big fat rumor....nothing more, nothing less. I know a few people that claim to have real DEX boxes as well as converts so I think I may ask them what they think. Also if eussNL calls bull**** then I am not thinking twice about believing him over a rumor.

Being a pirate doesn't justify loving or hating sony. Online may be free until the PSN access window closes in the next few days (unless the new passphrase gets out) but they will stop that, they will attempt to stop dex consoles, they will keep suing and scheming their way out of lawsuits against them, and they will probably stop this newest hack.

Love Sony because they put out awesome exclusives. Hate Sony because they are sue happy and remove advertised features over a console's life cycle, but don't love or hate them because you are too cheap to buy your games.
