correct me if im wrong.
of course he won't have power on the USB port to charge the remote but once he turns the ps3 on to go to factory mode (turn on main power supply and then power button and eject button) and the green light comes on the PS3 will look for a dongle in the USB port (use the one in the right closer to the disk opening), unless he doesn't have any lights on the PS3 and in that case he has to fix the PS3's power supply before he can do anything else.

Guest_171 : your method cant work. someone wrote that their bricked consoles doesnt have usb support anymore. the usb ports doesnt work after the brick. so they need a hardware flasher

Soon : I come fast to check your last message, the usb still work but on a partial way that you can only use usb stick and not usb hard drive... if you can this press the power button and see the light, you can still recover the brick, the lv2diag load into the bootldr... the bootldr load the usb direction...

Soon : anyway the bootldr include the usb execution... when you press the power button + eject the bootldr load the usb and execute the right file

Soon : this is usually used for technical repair purpose.. not only for dongle

Soon : you need to do the method correctly and have the factory payload
exactly what I just said but with more words

My PS3 does turn on, green LED, and the buttons work like Eject. I can also stoll turn it on witj my ps3 controller, but there's just a black screen, no HDD light, no USB power.

Now about the guys new message, I'll try that soon. I will first have to borrow my friends USB dongle though.

Thanks for the info everyone.
