So i read about this 4.21 cfw and i am eager to try to locate my old ps3. In case i cant find it i have the following questions.


I dont own any kind of hardware mods like E3 flasher or whatever, will i be able to downgrade my old ps3 ?
In case i dont find it, can i go buy a new one and downgrade and cfw it ? ( Super Slim or Slim model ). Without knowing what kind of firmware will be in the box that is.

I am trying to read about downgrading, i know you need a flasher, but there are many sites claiming you only need a usb drive because of some firmwares out with keys decrypted, able to downgrade with no flashers. Is this true ? Please dont mock me, i am reading for like 3-4 hours and i am reading about both opinions of downgrading.

old models can be downgraded via hardware if over 3.55

When you mean hardware, do i need to use a E3 flasher or something to solder on the board ? Or can i use an iphone or an android phone to simulate a usb dongle ? Or a simple usb flash ?

If you want to be 100% sure to have a ps3 with fw lower than 3.55 (the latest hackable) you should look for a new slim 120 gb or buy a used 120 gb and downgrade it...
Or you have just to look the serial and check it with the list posted by Japsander...
PS: any fat console is ok but i don't suggest buy one of them...

E3 flaher is solderless you can t use any usb dongle for downgrade..

So i need a flasher no matter what. Even if i find my old 40gb fat ps3

^^No matter what a hardware flasher is need. At least you have a PS3 that can be downgraded.

Oit depepends on what fw is your fat... If it is lower than 3.55 it s done. The 160 gb slim is ok if it s serial is in the list lower than 3.55

I thought PS3's with 4.21 OFW could in future have a real 4.21 CFW because the keys have been found, but it still needs to be downgraded to 3.55 FW?

I'm confused now.
