Possibly bad bluray laser?

Hey guys I need your help, I turned on my ps3 after work today to do a little gaming. Sadly my disc icon wouldn't come up so I took it apart to investigate it. I'm looking at it trying to work on bluray discs, but it just spins every now and then with the occasional read. But when I try a dvd the blue laser turns on for a second and then it just don't even try to attempt the read. I kinda think its the laser but I don't really want to spend the time and the money replacing it if that was not even the issue.

The only things I've tried so far are rebuilding the database and just tinkering with the bluray drive itself.

Okay.. This is my final request on this subject... I really don't want to make an account at psx scene just for some help on this

it's most definitely the laser and so easy to fix. just buy a replacement and use youtube for video tuts on replacing.
