It's required because you can view your friends' trophies, not only your own. If they have a Vita, then their earned trophies number will exceed the amount of trophies you can look up. So this does affect everyone.

Fair enough. i didnt think through it. i just saw the update and immediatly disliked it lol. pretty much like 90% of the updates so far.

Just like the Ps store update. it looks horrible and seems to be created for a touch device.

lol nice did know u can make screen shot on vita. it does look pretty bad tho. the version currently on ps3 would be a vast improvement. however its not suitable for the console i feel.

Anyway, i have a question, should i update because ill need a downgrader anyway or just wait it out? Or update becausr it can still be modified?
