If You split >4GB file into pieces, then You MUST copy it to internal by Multiman so it can merge it to one file.

You're right, FAT32 has 4GB file limit.

Simple answer is this:

You have game that has >4GB file it must be on internal.
Everything else can be placed on external.

Thanks for the response wesyr.

Another question i have is:
Does the backup on my external need to be in a certain folder? In MM, I dont see the backup under the Games tab. I can see the file under video, etc tabs, but not under games. Do I need to make a GAMES or GAMEZ folder and put the backup in there?

Yea, Just make a folder called GAMES on the root of your external and copy the games over into that foler. Inside the games folder you will paste your BLUS-xxx folder with the game data. i.e., NCAA 12 would go like this /GAMES/BLUS30745-[NCAA Football 12]

Then you boot up MM, plug in your EXTHDD, use MM to copy the game to internal, the MM will merge the file into original and your good to boot the game and play. There is also the posibility of running the game from external, using the MM to copy the big file only to internal, but I have not tested it yet with 4.21 CFW but it worked on 3.55.
This doesn't appear to work on the latest Multiman running Rogero's 4.30 CFW. When you try and get MM to copy a 4+gig size file to the USB it comes up with an error. I guess this is something that needs to be fixed.

Updates are not being applied in MM

Guys, I need your advice. I'm sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere but when I tried to update some games via MM and apply them via Install package in XMB, I've been getting the error message that I already have the newest update installed. Is there anyway around this? I have 3.55 fixed games that I want to update so they will run in cfw 4.30. Thanks much!

Great tutorial, thank you! I currently have a external with a 200GB partition (Fat32) and have a couple of questions:

1. I have my game on a PC and want to transfer it to the external. How do we overcome the 4gb file limit on fat32 if there is a file larger than that?

2. I've read that Multiman can use NTFS now. Can I just use a NTFS partition on the external to play the game?

Thanks in advance!
2. What I learned was, you can get Multiman to recognize an NTSF external HDD. There are some steps to take though, and you can't use the NTSF drive to run or play games. Just to transfer from external to Internal using multiman. Also if one usb port on your PS3 isn't allowing multiman to recognize your drive, or files on it, switch usb ports. Upon my own research on various things, I notice a lot of tutorials are outdated, or not in perfectly understandable english, so it can be a bit jarring.
Google "How to use Multiman with your NTSF Drive, you will find a tutorial from nextgenupdate. At least that is what I used. If you have any questions or need help, just ask. Get a 1 or 2TB External hardrive, Create a file on your PC with Notepad called USB.CFG and when saving the file instead of saving as .TXT, choose All Files in the drop down box. Follow the tutorial when you find it. After creating that file, via FTP, or usb flash drive formatted to FAT32, transfer that USB.CFG file to dev_hdd0>game>BLES80608>USRDIR> Put the USB.CFG file in there. Connect your drive to the PS3, open multiman, go to File Manager, Press START + Triangle click yes, give it a few, then your drive should be recognized as pvd_usbxxx, in my case xxx being 000.
Double click on that folder with X, click X once on the game folder on your external drive which will highlight it. Then press circle, choose copy, navigate back to dev_hdd0 which is your internal PS3 drive. Once in there double click on the GAMES folder. If its not there, create it. I ripped a PS3 game internally using Multiman and it created it for me. Going in to that GAMES folder, press Circle, and Paste the game in to there. It'll take some time, if you get an error delete files, and try again. Once you have your game internally, you are ready to use Multiman to play it.
