Wow, some of the trusted PS3 devs are vectorialists. That is the biggest irony I've heard all year.

Trusted? You cannot "trust" anyone.

The part that I don't really buy is when kakaroto says that no decent hacks were released in nearly two years because devs didn't want to support piracy they just wanted linux back.

There is no question that taking away linux was a dick move by Sony, especially since sony used it as a selling point when the ps3 made its debut but c'mon linux runs like sh*t on a ps3 regardless of what disto you install. I love linux but the Cell processor and the rest of the hardware in the ps3 is just not optimally configured to run as a desktop machine.

They spent all that time reverse engineering just to give their ps3 the functionality of a 10 year old desktop computer? No! They are hackers they wanted to be able to run anything! Inevitably this includes backup managers.

I respect kakarato's and fail overflow's opinions on piracy but in the end it is extremely lame and unfair to us loyal followers for them to say 'we've found keys and exploits but we're never going to release them because we don't support piracy'. I'm going to receive flack for this but I find it hard to believe that not a single dev has ever backed up a game they did not own.

Kakaroto should not have even brought up xbox cfw users. xbox jtaggers are the worst when it comes to piracy and online cheating.

I don't mean any disrespect in fact I envy their reverse engineering skills and I am thankful for what they released but these devs intentionally left us in the dark for 2 years! However, I fully support people like Rogero!
Maybe you love Linux, you don't understand what Linux (Unix, BSD) is about... Let's put it simple: if it can run Linux, it has to run Linux ...

Linux (Unix, BSD) is the best and most stable OS to operate anything. And with anything I mean anything. From sat receiver to TV to microwave to whatever. And that is a fact we like to show to the rest of the world. And yes, most of it we have to use the terminal to get a job done, no fancy UI. But this way it (only ) does anything.

Now the $ony management is just like all other big managers and governments. They live in another world as you and me. They have so much money and live so well protected they don't know anymore how the world is there outside. They thought (and still think) we are only low-life slaves who have to follow their stupid orders. We as $ony remove OtherOS and everybody has to shut up about it.

Well maybe it works this way in their stupid dream world, in the real world it works different. If you kick someone he might kick you back. And if that someone is a Linux user who knows how to screw your system because that same system runs on a kind of Linux (the good ol' BSD, Linux his big and stronger brother) than $ony is as stupid as a spoiled little kid to do so.

$ony got what they deserved. Now hopefully they stop acting as that 'spoiled little kid who lives outside the real world' with the PS4 and will allow the use of homebrew on it. Ok, ok.... I will dream on

Linux, stable? That's a joke, I think you've read too many mission statements and not experienced enough of the real thing.

Ridiculous perpetual updates that are made to the linux kernel, constantly causing old drivers not to work, version mismatches, dependencies not available, suddenly needed, then not needed, and basically just a constant hassle and never achieving a "stable" system.

Linux = Communism, nice idea, flawed execution. BSD is even worse.

Oh and they'll shove ads and make homepage alterations to your Android device - I've seen this happen to one/two N64 emulators on the Google Play Store.

Is there a way for sony to secure the PSN or is it now wide open to hackers/modders running CFW ? Thanks.

They are corporate selfish faceless pigs that deserve everything they get after the way they have treated us in the last couple of years and they get away with bloody murder each time in court regardless if its illegal or not, i think Kakaroto and the rest of them are all sony's biyach and should bend down a take it like a sugar daddy should, funking sellouts.
TL;DR: Youness Alaoui will now be seen as a terrorizing Moroccan kaafir scumbag who deserves to end his life right now in the eyes of the underground gaming scene followers.

So that is the reason nobody wants an android phone, nobody wants a Mac computer/MacBook,iPad/iPhone, nobody wants a Dreambox sat/cable receiver, nobody wants a Sharp 70" TV (I don't know about other brands but Sharp runs on Linux), nobody wants a PS3 and so on and so on. All instable crappy devices doomed to die soon ....

Name a more stable OS to me

PS: only driver problem I have atm is the Intel 4000 graphics driver for my MacBook running Windows (bootcamp). Apple disabled it on purpose on windows (only the Nvidia card works, EFI doesn't let Windows recognize The Intel 4000 at all) so it looks like OSX is more energy friendly....

Edit: Ow, I forgot that RSX 3D driver..... Mayor driver problem indd

Different situation there, Android is closed and controlled by google, sure source code is released and people make ROMs and what not but it's closed in terms of there's no "ecosystem". Linux distributions like Ubuntu, which I believe is the most popular, is an absolute nightmare in terms of staying up to date with security patches, addons, repos, and all that jazz.

It was heralded as the dawn of free computing, but just feels like a poor man's Windows 3.1, it's just not user friendly, and never will be because of so many updates and fixes, then updates to fix the fixes that something fixed which broke something else which broke something else which fixed that which broke that which fixed that....

You get the picture Welcome to hard work and stress.

Sure it's good for XBMC, and NAS software because it can be stripped down but in terms of actual usability as a working operation system. No thanks.

...Just my opinion....I've been scarred by it. Getting to grips with linux distributions have aged me a good 5 years, and the problem is you never really do "learn" linux. It doesn't stop, it never ends.
