Corrupt PS3

CECHL01 on 3.56 OFW
software problem
used to run 3.55 CFW

So I was updating my 3.56 online and the power went out. I turn it back on and it's screwed up. So I use the emergency menu (power button, double beep, etc.) and none of the options work, at all.

"Restart System" -> PS3 restarts and goes back to "The system software cannot be run correctly. Press the PS button to try to restart the system."

"Restore Default Settings" -> Same as above.

"Restore File System" -> Same as above.

"Restore PS3 System" -> Same as above.

"Rebuild Database" -> "The hard disk cannot be accessed." (I did not ever swap the HDD)

"System Update" -> "The data is corrupted." (8002F2C5) (Do not tell me to re-download the PUP, of course I've tried that multiple times)

Is this fix-able? Do I simply have to reformat the hard drive using a PC, or do I need a flasher -- and is it still worth getting a flasher in order to get 4.21 CFW or, with the advent of the LV0 keys, is it worth holding off for an exploit and staying on OFW 3.56 provided I can fix this? If I need a flasher, I would prefer a solderless solution, I think CECHL01 is NOR-based.

From what I understood: Just download the 4.21 OFW package, then install the cfw over it, just like with the 3.55 cfw's
But it looks like your PS3UPDAT.PUP file is damaged, maybe the solution is easier than we all think: Just redownload the .pup :-)
DO NOT UPDATE FROM THE INTERNET ! THEN YOU INSTALL VERSION 4.25 ! (UNHACKABLE)

EDIT:: Just found out: Download firmware 3.56 v2 ! sony did a (underwater) fix for that error code ! I think it will install nicely with v2

The PUP is not damaged, I've already tried installing 3.56 OFW and 4.21 OFW and 4.25 OFW (all downloaded straight from the site on release), they have all yielded the same error. I'm not an idiot, of course I've re-downloaded the PUP.

From what I've read, you still need 3.55 OFW as a base...

I wouldn't be willing to purchase a flasher... if all I needed to do was re-download the PUP... that suggestion isn't helpful at all.

Tried the Downgrade method

I was just wondering: Have you tried the downgrade method ? The same as we must use to get back to CEX after bricking ?
Do you own a jailbreaking dongle ?

Yeah, run the fsm payload from your ti-84 and then flash using lv2diag file 1 and a ps3updat.pup to your wanted firmware version. if needed, I can give you the link to the exact thread, but going to sleep now.

you only need to calculate the right value for the jig challenge, and emulating a jig is a default IN the program. no appvar needed.
