Yeah you can't update on a version of 4.06.00 or lower.
Check ps3scenefiles.com. They have everything you need there

[Released] multiMAN v04.08.01
multiMAN v04.08.01 Released (10/28/2012)
Hiyas guys, today a new update for multiMAN is available for download, you can update via v04.08.00 (some previous versions should let you update as well, but not the very old releases).
 I am currently downloading the update to my PS3, I will try to get the PKG from the temporary location and share it with you, so stay tuned, maybe someone else beats me to it =P. UPDATE: Here you have the download link  !! Enjoy! (I just tested this on Rogero CFW 4.21 v1.09 and its working fine)multiMAN_04.08.01_capcpsx_ps3hax.rar [~20 MB] Source: multiMAN app  SeeYa!
