I detest $ony but it's their own fault things got to this point.

But who I hate more than $ony themselves are the annoying moaning users they have.

They complain about a game icon. Seriously. And when I complained about the stupid health warning sign when PS3 boots up they were all like "it only lasts a few seconds". Right now I don't even use my PS3 Slim, to be honest.

I got passed that, but these ass holes keep on going about the Singstar icon.

I have mixed feelings about Sony because their products are like playing charades. Some of their products doesn't appear to be what they really are when marketed to the public.

I have quite a strong dislike for Sony's ineptitude in terms of communication and I am very uncomfortable with the fact they are willing to sue "the little man" to protect their business interests. I also dislike their history of not creating products that adhere to standards set by consortiums, but favour the "going it alone" ethos, which is stealth anti-consumerism imo.

I only harbour this dislike because I'm familiar with some of their business practices, and some of my interests are close to their business practices (photography, films, games) where in each, Sony has had a very obvious stance of attempting to upset the balance of consumerism in it's favour with no regard to benefits to the consumer.

I see them as exploitative and dishonest in their pride at being consumer orientated.

However, I will say that if I had studies any companies strategies and practices in depth across the board, it's likely I would feel this way about most businesses. After all, their real goal as with any business is to maximize profits to the maximum extent permissible at any cost.

I can't be sure but feel Sony inparticular push this concept to it's limit. But as I just said, I can't be 100% that Sony is really any worse than any other company in it's situation. It is a company that relies heavily on it's brand image in terms of quality, I believe that image is a facade but, again, it's a face with most companies.

Even if you take companies that are set up based on a moral principle, for example companies that sell healthy food options that take pride in where their ingredients are sourced. At the end of the day these companies have set up the principle on top of the financial model and not the other way round.

There is no good or bad company, just like a friendly house cat, if it feels threatened - it might scratch your face. That's business


...The one interesting thing about Sony which I think works to it's disadvantage, is that it doesn't seem to know how to do PR in the "West". It reeks of old school Japanese tradition, but is competing in a market where PR is becoming increasingly important, I don't think it's mastered it and it finds the western demographic of liberalism alien and really doesn't know how to communicate in a genuine way that doesn't make you think "press release" and "bullcrap". I'd guess you could call the feeling "cold".

im the same as @japsander . also i think they went the wrong way round, when they started suing ppl etc . for 1 they started suing the wrong people

i will be buying a ps4 and i hope they do a better job this time round , and if i like other sony stuff i will buy them. like the other day i brought sony xperia s.

That's an interesting statement. On what terms would you judge the company as a whole? I'm confused myself on my thoughts about Sony as a company.

I disagree with the OP's sentiments as it's not as black and white as that imo but I definitely feel that you can judge a company by the people who are running it, after all, they decide on the direction the company is going in, decide on lawsuits to file for example, and most defining actions obviously start at the top.

I'll keep it sweet but short. I've always hated $ony. But recently I've actually been happy with the amount of silence the scene has received from them. I'm sure there's a purpose to the silence but I'll remain happy until the other shoe drops.
