Sony already said that ther next console will support 4K, not even a RUMOUR it's FACT. More likey Blu-ray XL movies or Photo's will be 4K. Doubtful games will be 4k native, maybe scalable to 4k.

Sony are going to push 4K as they bringing out an 85" TV for $20,000. Early 2013, but smaller affordable 4K TV will follow for sure.

It's only dev kit hardware as of now.

Perfectly understandable, problem is the PS3 used the Nvidia RSX which would mean without that in the console were looking at half assed emulation if they make it PS3 backwards compatible.
