Assuming you have a downgradable nor model ps3, then:
I can put Rogero 4.30 cfw on your ps3. Then you can do your patching on 4.30cfw. If you update to OFW you will need a flasher to downgrade again.
But if you are on 4.30 cfw you can downgrade with just a flash drive.
You need to be on 3.55 to install 4.30 cfw.

So there wouldn't be any reason to go back to 3.55, until there is a 4.31 cfw. Then you can downgrade with PUP files back to 3.55 and install a new cfw when it comes out in the future.

Are you ever going to downgrade nand models. My ps3 is a nand model and it looks to complicated for me to downgrade with the E3 flasher
