yes it can,but dont rush it,dont let the razor blade go too deep or you may cut the cpu chip lol,i sucessfully remove mine using this method, razor blades are very dangerous so if you want to skip it you can also use an X-Acto knife so you dont cut yourself, and you can choose the size of the blade so it doesnt go to deep to reach the cpu and damage it

you can use AS5 to "glue" it back but i dont know if it will be sticky enough to hold it when you are mounting it,i used Arctic Silver Thermal Adhesive to put back the IHS and a drop of Arctic MX-2 on the CPU chip, the temperatures i was having were above 80c on the cpu and the fan would rampage xD,now it never goes higher than 68c and the fan is always at level 2 even when playing heavy games like Uncharted 2 and GTA 4,and when idle in multiman CPU goes down to 62c

PS:Just buy one Razor Edge Scraper to safely remove the IHS i recommend it

Hey man.i tryed this method but unfortunately i found it to hard to remove ..so i decided after a lot of time pressing trying to cut the adhesive to put it back together..anyways i didnt scratch anything and i protected the motherboard with taoe around CPU but now its not working anymore

.I turn PS3 on and all i got is 3 beeps and red light flashing after 5 seconds of green+blue light.

It is possible that i moved the shield a little and that existing (poor) thermal paste contact under IHS is lost?

I swear the shield not moved and its preety solid glued to the cpu.

What should i do?
