Bit confused as to why this is actually any use.

Isn't it possible to downgrade any PS3 on any firmware version to 3.55 already with a flasher provided the factory firmware is 3.55 or below??

All consoles from the factory above 3.55 use new bootloader anyway and this doesn't work for those of course....

So where's the news? I'm sure there is something here would appreciate an explanation.

a lot of 3.56 and 3.60 stock do not have the new bootloader

Understand some ps3 came out with ofw 3.56 id say its for them

i dont think there is any new bootldr on any new PS3 for now the only think wath sony hase don are to patch the metldr and replace this with the new metldr.2

for my unterstanding new we have the lv0 key maybe if we can cet now the metldr.2 we hafe the position to decrypt all the f*** FW but this is not the point that we are able to install CFW on any PS3.

to install a CFW on any FW 3.60+ we have first to exime how the fu**** spgk.hdr.1 files are uset by the LV1 LV2 if we unterstand this then we are able to install CFW on any FW and any PS3.

maybe now on the point we have the LV1 keys and we found out how to patch LV1 checks and get qa qorking on newer FW then i is posible for that ATM we need this F***** Flashers.

but back to the bootldr
the booldr are the highes securety on the PS3 the only think what the bootldr does are to call LV0 and all other starts from LV0

the metldr and metldr.2 does nothink anymore i think its more a placeholder
and realy does nothink.

I can confirm this. Did it yesterday on my CECH2504A datecode 1B which only accepts 3.60+. I tried to downgrade it with earlier firmware, but it would just make 3 beeps and shutdown. I installed rebug by patching both ros in flash and after it booted I installed the whole .pup. Works fine.
