re-marrying questions

@mrc1978 thinks : "what?" , lol, but this has nothing to do with you.

ok, i'm a little affraid to start the process due to the following reason:

1. the md5 check from fdm_spu_module.self dous not match, is now : 8B71331447ACC2C6E24E638C8B417D5B and according to devwiki it should be :33E8D3C12349CFD203930FD0C237054D
i got this file from 2 different locations and they do match with each other, but not with the check provided from the readme in remarry-3.55.rar (devwiki)

2. how great is the chance that i brick my ps3 using this method, considering that it's never downgraded and is still on 3.55 kmeaw.
i want to remarry between a drive from a 40Gb ps3 and a 60GB ps3, logic boards do match.

3. will this only change the drive?, in other words if it's not working can i put the original dead drive good logic board back and would it work again. (discless)

i now have a 60GB ps3 that's on it's last leg but good drive, and a 40GB ps3 that is good but suffer from a dead motor syndrom, so i can only play discless stuff, it would be great to have a good ps3 again on 3.55.

i'm worried the most about the md5 fail

@Mr.Dutch if it is the 3.55 remarry files you need and are worried about, I have them on my computer. I used them a couple times with no issues, so they are definetly legit. Also, you won't brick your console because it hasn't ever been downgraded. You will just go to the 3.55 for remarry and get into fsm, and let the files do there thing, and then voila. It will change the drive board, so if you decide you want to go back to the old drive, you will have to remarry it to the console because it will now think the new one is the correct drive, and not the old one. If you have motor issues and aren't able to play a blue ray movie then you will loose blue ray payback. Unless....I'm not sure but you may be able to copy your dev_flash files using preloader and en after remarry, restore the dev_flash files to give you blue ray playback, but since your motor doesn't work I guess tht wouldn't do you much good. If the part about preloader is incorrect, someone please correct me.

@Bigbones87 , lol i just send you a private message, could you do a md5 check on your fdm_spu_module.self , and post what the outcome is?
************* [ - Post Merged - ] *************
ok, one more thing that is worrying me, and i hope to get an answer.

i was planning to get in fsm using the FactoryServiceMode.pkg, i guess first i have to install it, and then i will be able to run it.
but, i'm putting a non-married drive in, will i be able to get into fsm this way?, or will i just get a black screen, like any other manager of game will do, because of the not correct logic board.

@Mr.Dutch I didn't even think about that. You won't be able to run the fsm .pkg because you don't have a working logic board. Or if you are able to run any .pkg and the logic board is just on its way out then you should be ok. I will run a md5 check, as soon as I get to my computer. Wait....how the heck do I do that? Kinda imbarassing.

choose the direct download link.

for the fsm i do have a hacked psp too, but i may have a different problem.
i tried the pkg on my 60GB ps3 with the good married drive, i had the needed files on an usb stick in the right port, when i was in fsm mode it sort of started the re-marry process right away, this was not what i wanted lol, i thought i would get an option menu what to do.

anyway i got the pink NG screen...lol, i thought i screwed up the good drive but it was still married when i got out of fsm.

did i get the no good screen because the drive was allready married?, or is it still a communication error.

@harryoke , don't post like me lol, i have a serious problem here.

Not sure about the pink NG because of the already married drive, since I haven't ever tried to remarry an already married drive before. .

Ng = no good dead drive or bad connection

I have remarried an already married drive before and I got the green OK sign.

Are you sure you are using the correct files for firmware 3.55 and not the ones for 3.30?

And for changing your drive you can enter service mode with the broken married drive then put the new one in and remarry it since you are now in service mode.

if i am in service mode, and i turn down the ps3 using the power button on the front, i go to standby, and when i turn it on again i'm still in service mode right. (tried that allready).
but when i switch the ps3 completely off with the switch in the back, is that ok? , because i could now safely switch the drives and turn the ps3 on to re-marry it.

i use the remarry-3.55 , and the 3.30 OFW, my usb looks like this:

cfg/standalone.cfg (cfg is a folder)
FactoryServiceMode.gnpdrm.pkg <-- to get into service mode
fdm_spu_module.self
Lv2diag.self
manufacturing_updater_for_reset.self
PS3UPDAT.PUP >-- 3.30 OFW

on a side note, my drive's ribbon cable that i test this on is missing one connection, the 3,3V ever. (this 3,3V is normally always on, in standby and on mode)

according to the schematics it is used to power the photoled, but due to the missing of this line, the ps3 won't eject a disc or insert one, for the rest it is working properly, an there is a game inside.

and also since i have all files allready on the usb, when i enter service mode it will run the remaary process right away....

i need some help @Bigbones87 and everyone else.
