Doesn't matter, every application you access on your ps3, whether homebrew or official, gets logged on your PS3 and set to sony when you login. You can always clear boot_history.dat, but I'm not sure this is a 100% solution..

Seeing how jailbreaking is now considered illegal
http://www.ps3hax.net/2012/11/jailbr...stop-doing-it/

Sony likes to F over it's users so I hope something can be done to mask homebrew

For everyone else, you can grab the 3.55 CFW Version of PSNnja v3 Here:
http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=44777
Here is a readme from that software:
This make you appear offline using mecomment, wipes history, pushes fake history, and clears web history .
It is stealthed as Mobile Suit Gundam BLUS30017, if you play this game you suck....
Its the second worst game on ps3.

Usage:

Make selection press X

Explanation:

Wipe History- Deletes history files

Replace History- Replaces History with fake history files found in - dev_hdd0/game/BLUS30017/USRDIR/files

Make History Files read Only- Makes you history files read only, games and homebrew ran will no longer be added to files.

Make History Writable- Make history files writable again

Clear Browser History- Deletes history.xml from webbrowser

Hide From Friends- Makes you appear offline even though you are online.

Be Seen Again- Make you seen by friends again

Notes on making files read only:

This will still be in effect after resetting the system, so essentially no more wiping history
ever again.

You MUST disable other apps from erasing history such as multiman, which i use it has a nice
ini file you can edit to make it stop doing it here is how for multiman:

Go to its folder via ftp /dev_hdd0/game/BLES80608/USRDIR/options_default.ini

Open it in notepad or whatever and find: clear_activity_logs=1 make it say clear_activity_logs=0

Save and reload it to ftp and now it wont clear history anymore.

I'm sure gaia and other managers have something similar read their readme's.
If anyone is willing to update it for 4.xx CFW id be more than happy to update this article with it

EDIT:
Updated front page, with this info

Its only a matter of time, they log everything you do offline.. it then gets phoned home when online.
They can even tell if you have a flasher installed and have downgraded etc.

Simple fact is.. PSN is a ticking timebomb, I wont go on it simply because if they wanted to the could silently update you, remote brick you or just at best ban you.
It doesnt matter if they have no right to do any of the above.. whats going to happen when whoever gets bricked takes them to court and has been playing 50+ "backups" online that they now mysteriously dont have in their possession?
Youve signed away your class action rights by going on PSN, youve given them your whole PS3 history by going on PSN. You'll eventually get screwed over.. whether they screw you gently with @hellsing9 's weeny or hardcore with @GregoryRasputin 's 12" black weeny is up to them

Hi,

in the early days of PS3 jailbreaking I had stealthed the first backup manager for a German board where I was a moderator for the PS3 board.

It is not enough only to sign the backup manager with a demo PARAM.SFO. You also have to delete all files in the following folder on your hdd0:

/dev_hdd0/vsh/pushlist

The files in this folder contain the history of applications which you have started.
It could be that multiman automatically deletes the files when you exit multiMAN but I'm not 100% sure.
This is just a little hint for you.

Sony cannot sue the end user. We are merely accessing what's available to us. The whole lawsuit with the RIAA and filesharing was due to massive uploaders, the only time that I heard they sued anyone for downloading, was someone who had downloaded over 1000 songs in one day.

They may sue the people over at E3, they may sue the hackers who develop cfw but it's very rare that anyone would sue end users...yes even Sony. If that were the case you would here about MS or Apple suing people who are using pirated or cracked copies of their software. Worst they can do is ban your console and go a step further and ban your account to add insult to injury.

You don't read much, people get sued all the time, recently @GraVoX959 got sued for uploading 10 movies:
Pornographic films on BitTorrent: Flava Works gets huge damages

People get sued ALL the time for uploading/downloading, people even get sued for having sites which have links to downloadable files.

On the subject of Sony, they can sue whom ever they chose, they have the Judges in their pockets.

I dont know if that was in response to me talking about going to court with Sony?
If it was I meant if an end user took Sony to court for silently updating or bricking their console.
The end user woulndt have a leg to stand on because its highly likely they would have pirated material on their PS3 or a history log that showed they had in the past.

I dont think they will do anything other than ban people but the choice is there if they wanted to and the end user really couldnt do much about it.
Look at 4.30 DEX, it bricks converted consoles.. Im not totally sure but a couple months back when I heard about it, it was supposedly a full brick, not recoverable without syscon flashing.. If they want to play nasty they can and will
