I had three quick questions I was hoping to get some help with.
1) I have a Weller WES51 soldering kit. What is a safe temperature to set this at to properly solder to the board? 2) It seems like the recommended wire length is 15 cm, which is about 6 inches. I have dual NAND, with the NAND on each side of the MOB (cok-001). It seems like I need about 10 inches of wire to properly get it from one side to the other, maybe that length just for the chip on the bottom, while I can still go with 6 inches for the rest of the wire on the top of the board. Is this ok, even though not recommended? 3) Does anybody have a wiring diagram for this board? I see ones on PS3DEVWIKI, but it says not to use, as those are just test points. I'm assuming I'm to wire directly to the NAND itself, not the test points, correct? Thank you! |

would i follow this picture hare: http://www.ps3devwiki.com/images/1/1...-progskeet.jpg it came from hare: http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Hardw...shing#Tristate but it's not very accurate on showing were to solder from linker to the board. hare is the NOR Flash table i show's you all the pins were you need to solder: http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Templ...R-Flashertable But i cannot find a match with which pin layout the picture is referring to. and would i have to solder all the pins on the linker? including TriState? I looked at the linker in the PS3. it had a lot of cables connected wouldn't be wise to close it up. all i wanted in the first place something small like the clip but permanent. not a big mess. are you sure there is no way to secure the clip in a permanent position? like i could have a peace of wood putting pressure on the clip as i over it with Epoxy. and when it dries i break of the peace of wood (IE Toothpick) and it should stay under that pressure for ever. you know like people say use tape to tape the clip down right. why not do the same thing with Glue/Epoxy put pressure on it while you glue it down. on Top Side not Inside the Clip. like would it interfere with the Processes if i got Glue one of the circuits. Or a Resister Covered on it (i think not as they are thin but still won't be insulated as glue cannot penetrate metal) ************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* This What i mean By Securing the Clip: ![]() The Red Boxes Mean = Representing the small holes on the E3 Clip. The Green Lines/Boxes = Tape To cover the small holes on the E3 Clip The Light Blue Lines/Boxes = Epoxy/Glue Covering The Areas. Green Text = While Applying Pressure. Epoxy covers area. and dries. once dry. Pressure is released and hopefully stays that way. The picture may not show but what i would want to be doing is putting a thin layer of Epoxy on the top/the sides and a bit on the Board to secure the clip. The question is how many layers of Epoxy/Glue would i put on? - (i Prefer Epoxy) i was thinking a thin layer but that could crumble eventually. (How strong is Epoxy?) Is this Method Safe or Stupid? It depends entirely on the mechanical properties of the E3 clip. If the epoxy would be sufficient enough to keep it mated? For example the plastic of the clip may itself bend and give, or distort somewhat the inside positions of the contacts. I certainly have no idea.
Since gluing is meant to be permanment measure, you should first try to exhaust other options. For example, were you aware that it is actually the tiny contacts *inside* the clip often don't reach / push mate down against the nand legs sufficiently. So the first thing to do is wipe the contacts inside the clip (and the legs of the NAND) with isopropyl alcohol to make sure they are going to make the best possible electrical connection. Now imagine if you had already glued your clip but had not done that yet. You couldn't go back without applying a log of force to be ripping it out of there. Some people (myself for example). Tend to be rather untrusting of the clip as a permanent solution. They can disegage / ping off eventually, or for example if your system is knocked about a bit. Even in the best circumstances, a clip might sometimes never seat evenly in the first place. So at the very least, make sure you clip is fully working before you glue it. Ie take some flash dumps and verify them. |

then put it on and assemble the battery and fan and plug in the power. without fully assembling it? so if i can take a successful dump without any errors, i can glue it right? then full assemble it. do the dump's have to be verified B4 the clip is glued. waiting for another person to double check the dump's could take a while + having an incapacitated Ps3 kinda looks weird. ************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* + should i worry about the heat-sync pad's i was thinking of replacing the thermal paste on them. |

@baileyscream
I downgraded a Slim PS3 yesterday, Slim 25xx, Date Code 0D, Samsung Nor (QI4D). the Downgrade went fine and the De-hashing, The Dump was validated using your guide in addition to the info included in the PS3Wiki validation Talk Page (although nothing major to add just checking offsets and lenghts) but when you turn the PS3 for about 30 -45) min it freeze and gives me weird color on the TV, and had to shut it off and wait till cool. i know it is a GBU and Heating issue? or it is a hardware flue? is Re-Fowing the GPU going to help? (Thermal paste changed during the downgrade). One more thing: why the hell it happens to me with the 0D code PS3 Only :-)? Last edited by 3absiso; 11-11-2012 at 03:35 AM. |

Just to Make sure B4 I Purchase any thing.
this what i would need for E3 Flasher Installation: E3 Flasher Limited Edition E3 Card Reader / Downgrader - Can this be used as a downgrade dongle? Eclipse (eclips3) Downgrade Dongle - would this be recomended to use then the E3 Card Reader to downgrade PS3? Epoxy - Glue Tape Toothpick USB Stick - 8gb Micro Sd Card - SanDisk - 8gb Philips driver’s (PH1 & PH0) - I know where i can get a regular Philips Screw Driver but have no clue how a PH1 and PH0 Looks like or were to obtain one from Australia, Victoria. Would Bunnings warehouse sell them? Torx driver (T8) Alcohol wipes Thermal Paste Cardboard - Now what type of cardboard would i need. in the strip down of ps3 slim i see that the cardboard is placed on top of new thermal paste. + does it matter if i replace the paste or not? Soldering iron Solder Wire - For TriState Connection to the E3 Ribbon Am i missing any thing else? |
