Whilst reading this my cat jumped onto the table trying to eat my fish, it knocked my crystal ball of its stand, which in turn made it roll onto the floor and smashed into 1000 pieces.

Sorry I can't help you on the exact date on which a software solution will arrive.

How can you say it? We re talking about the reliability of ECDSA I don't think a dev could exploit something like this maybe but maybe some nobel prize mathematician could do it. PS3 doesn't use private keys for encrypt anything so a dev with all his knowledge has no way to solve the problem...

One of the Best PS3 Devs, Math. for example Most likely Had some sort of exploit or knows how to get them, There are many other devs with the knowledge and money to know how to get them.

PSP is completely hackable. Yet when Vita was released, the PSP scene is still alive. Many people (including me) still play PSP. I don't need to mention that people still use PS2 to play too. So, I assume PS3 won't die when PS4 releases.

There is no way at ALL to know how it would become possible.
When will the next world war break out? ...Can you see the unknown parameters here?

Anyway, if I were to give my suggestion to you... Then never.

Even if there is a skilled hardware hackers that can apply JuanNadies glorious method (all hail JuanNadie our savior's) to the 3k and 4k models, so we can hack them, we would still need a flasher to downgrade.

To sign our own firmware that the PS3 on an OFW would accept, we would need to have the private keys, and since Sony most likely does not make the same ****up twice, we will not be seeing it anytime soon, thus no software only downgrade method I'm afraid.

Or, we would have to find a new exploit on the current OFW... But, good luck with that ;/

Gotta say, I'm personally very happy is things are right now, call me an egoist if you want.

Not everyone can afford a flasher. I for one don't want to spend money on one, i buy games instead.
Flashers go for about 400 bucks here, thats no easy money.
And for Xbox, you don't need to buy any hardware to jailbreak it. You can do it yourself at home.
you can do the 3 oldest xbox's but only flash not rgh or jtag or flash 16d2s or 16d4s without buying something

Buy the flasher and support the scene in someway god or just pay someone to downgrade it You cheap ass
