Maybe this works :

http://www.ps3hax.net/2012/11/rebug-...tom-firmwares/

Along with their awesome 3.55.3 and 4.21.1 REX EDITIONS Codename: REBUG Team has released Rebug Toolbox 02.00.00. Besides some options that are not available, it also works on most current CFW.
SYSTEM
RESTART SYSTEM:
Perform either a Full or Soft reboot od the PS3 system.
Soft (LV2 Reboot Only)
Full (On/Off Cycle)

Boot OtherOS:
Boot OtherOS with either your currently selected LV1 patches or easily apply ALL LV1 patches and boot.
Boot (LV1 Patches: Apply All)
Boot (LV1 Patches: Use current)

Turn Off System:
Shut down your PS3.

Thought my thread was lost in the abyss.

Thanks. I'll try this.

Hi,

This tools can't create the OtherOS HDD partition and It is recomended to create it first using a 3.55 CFW before upgrade.
OTHEROS++ SUPPORT

OtherOS++ is supported by all REBUG REX EDITIONS and will detect your existing OtherOS HDD partition.

However none of the REBUG REX EDITIONS have emer_init.self patched (create smaller GameOS partition). We are working on a solution to this from GameOS.

In the meantime if you do want to create an OtherOS partition you have two options:

1: Use a 3.55 firmware that already has emer_init.self patched to the size you want.
2: Patch REBUG 3.55.3 REX EDITION in PS3MFW Builder

If you choose option 2 we highly recommend that you ONLY patch emer_init.self. Also the resulting PUP will only be able to be installed on 3.55 firmware as the spkg_hdr will be mismatched.

One final thing to note about OtherOS on 4.21.1 is that it function is slightly reduced at the moment due to the fact that we are not able to map memory like in 3.55 and below. The affected modules are ps3ram and ps3sbmmio.

Hopefully this problem can be addressed without having to release another firmware.

Regards

hmm..can someone tell us step by step how to get Other OS hdd part while we are on 4.30 CFW..?

as far as I understand firstly I should downgrade to 3.55 then install a CFW with Other OS+ option justlike CFW OTHER OS++ 22GB...then in recovery menu i choose rebuid data base or restore file system i couldnt exactly remember which one is correct to get Other OS part..then get back to 3.55 ofw or cfw and install 4.30 cfw again.
now theorically i have Other OS part while im on 4.30 though..

Now is this correct?

Hi,

Yes, It is correct.

The recovery option is "Restore PS3 System" and It is recommended to install the CFW always using the recovery.

I was also wondering how to get linux/other os on rogero 4.3 CFW and it seems like no one has done it yet. It sounds like a waste of time to try, since you would have to downgrade to OFW and back to 3.55 CFW to get other os option in system settings. I am on Rogero 4.3 CFW, so technically from what everyone says it 'could' work. Theoretically I would:

1- Downgrade to OFW 3.55
2- Install Rogero 3.55 CFW? (or a CFW with OtherOS?)
3- Install/use OtherOS option in system settings/partition drive
4- Downgrade again to OFW 3.55
5- Install/Upgrade to Rogero 4.3 CFW
6- Select the new OtherOS option in system settings
7- Install YDL or Ubuntu
(and probably have issues getting it to work properly)

I dont see why you would have to go to a 3.55 cfw to do anything unless it has something to do with OtherOS only being on a CFW now that sony abandoned it? I'm sure i'm missing something, but without a proper guide I will just have to try it and see what happens.

For some reason I dont believe this will work, my theories never do. Maybe someone will be kind enough to elaborate on their experience getting linux on Rogero 4.3 CFW?

Edit: also, I know in the past there were trophy errors/bugs because of the OtherOS in CFWs past 3.55, maybe doing things in this order wont allow for trophy bugs?

After doing enormous amounts of research I have finally got Red Ribbon Linux RC6 running on my fat (256mb nand) ps3, also gameOS is running Rogero 4.3 v2 CFW with MultiMan 4.14 running.

Alot of trial and error but at least we can confirm it working.

A few notes are that you must downgrade to 3.55 OFW first and of course always use the recovery menu, you then have to install Rebug 3.55 CFW with OtherOS++, check your system info to make sure the partition is split (if not just reformat using recovery menu, should help) at this point you MUST install multiman in order to have/retain the 'Install package' support with the new Rogero 4.3 v2 cfw, otherwise you wont have it in XMB and have to downgrade and install everything again.

It was a little difficult to get through the shell to see the 'create_hdd_region.sh' file that you need to run (other guides said it was another path but usb devices are different path on my model ps3) but once I located the file on my usb device it ran fine using the './create_hdd_region.sh auto' command and I booted the USB device through petitboot and installed linux (formatting must be done right otherwise you could erase your gameOS partition).

Also when using the red ribbon (or other linux distros)ISOs on USB devices you will need to create a bootable partition with something like unetbootin which is for both mac and PC. This solved the 'kexec failed' issues I came across.

after that I went ahead and updated the rebug 3.55 cfw to rogero 4.3 v2 cfw and it kept the reboot.pkg and boototheros.pkg files installed for easy access to the linux side through XMB. I will make a more detailed guide if needed

Hope this helps
