LAN connection

I was hoping that someone here may be able to help me out.

Ive just set up a media center that is running windows 7 64bit. that is connected to the tv.

Im having issues with the transfer speed between my main computer to the media one. im getting about 3mbs transfering between the 2 through a wired connection, and to me that seems way too slow.

My main computer is also running the same version of windows.

I have a Virgin superhub running at 60mbs, and when on the internet, that is the speed running, its just the LAN that is way too slow.

Any advise on this would be great, they say google is your friend, but shes a b1tch for me.

Cheers

wired shouldnt be a problem if you have a gigabit connection (30-40mb/s transfer)

wifi i can understand but wired should be fine. have you tried other ways of transfer? e.g ftp?

try a direct connection to rule out any router problems. shouldnt be any need for an xover cable as modern NIC's autoswitch anyway

if the issue persist or indeed goes away, you have a starting point to troubleshoot
