You need to change your IP address of the ps3 and I'm using a proxy just to be sure with a new psn account

Played 15 mins no problems yet
Don't think it's I.P address as people here have 2 PS3's and OFW one working and CFW not.

When FTP'ing the game over to the internal drive I got a msg that certain files already exist. The file names were the exactly the same, locations were the same but the file sizes where different. This is the 1st time the game has gone on the internal drive. If I override the files the game works offline fine, if I don't override the files the game won't boot.

In regards to the IP address, he was referring to the external ip of your network. Multiple PS3s on the same network while having different internal ips would have the same external IP. A proxy would be the only real way to change the ip that PSN sees.

So here is an interesting tidbit on this issue...
A friend of mine got ahold of a copy of black ops 2 like last friday. I updated his ps3 to 4.30 rogero that day, and my own ps3, and got the DUPLEX version (he didnt make it over to my house with the game until after I had already snagged it)
He takes the ps3 home, plays black ops 2 from the original disk FIRST.
Plays fine for him. Then he let his brother use his disk, and he just started playing the DUPLEX version from an external USB. He has NOT been server blocked what so ever.
He played before launch, on launch night for hours, and again last night for hours.
No glitches or issues with it locking up even for him.

My ps3 was a different story. I got the DUPLEX ver and I tried it out first online on friday night, and saturday night. Sunday, I was no go. Server error.
I ran it from the external usb every time.

So, My initial thought is: Perhaps the game issue stems from when you boot the game for the first time on a console. That is most likely when it is installing these "check" files.
The fact that he played first with retail disk, and updated using retail disk, and now plays from external USB and has for the last few nights with no issues or ban/block server issues, anything.

I will admit, im not smart enough to go too much deeper into this theory, but its very interesting he has had no issues. One question is, if it is some sort of file that checks a unique disk identifier or along those lines, are the results, or flag, stored on your local ps3? or on 3arc servers? and would it just be a flag file, or a list of consoleIDs?

If we can find all the files on the ps3 storage or usb that it adds/modifies and can remove them and try first with the original disk, we could at least perhaps nail down if it is being stored by them or on our systems.

If you have 2 ps3 consoles on the same network each console will be assigned a different ip

If you change that it works I removed the proxy and am playing online now

That is what I am talking about both consoles will have a different interna ip the one one OFW not banned and the one with cfw will be banned

Try swapping the cfw and OFW consoles IP with each other then the OFW console will not work and the cfw will allow you in some cases to login for a few mins before blacklisting the ip

Go into network settings and do custom instead of auto then press right until is says IP address and click manual and change the IP address
The default gateway is your router ip
And primary DNS 208.67.222.222
Secondary DNS 208.67.220.220

Leave all other options just keep pressing right

You need the retail disc as well as updating to OFW for this to work

Ok if you have a flasher

Or if you are desperate for multiplayer black ops

It come down to the age old scenario only access psn on OFW

Cool story, what about those people like me who have a ps3 with a broken sony blu ray laser? hell id rather put them on the hard drive anyways, but without the laser, i cant backup games I legitemately own. funny, right? thats why i'm glad duplex does what they do, i went out and bought this game straight up, knowing that duplex had the release on the web.
