I am giving my PS3 to my friend because he gave me the one i'm currently using in which I was able to hack because he hadnt turned it on in well over a year so therefore it was on ver. 3.50 Any ways, I want to transfer all my game data and deactivate that other PS3 but I want to make sure I back up all my game data and transfer it to the new PS3. It backed up most of my data.. but not all. The most important data I want transferred (tiger woods 13) says it's protected and I'm not really sure how to get it on the new console. There is a backup utility in xmb which I ran and placed the backup on a thumbdrive, but when I run the utility on the machine I want to transfer the data to it tells me I will lose all other data on the HDD? I dont wanna delete the data I already have on this ps3 i'm using. Any assistance would be extremely appreciated.

I'm pretty sure you will need to use the data transfer utility as the backup utility will not backup copy protected saves.

If you have a spare internal hdd then put it in your ps3 and do the data transfer then use multiman to copy your data to a usb then put the normal hdd back in and again use multiman to copy the data from the usb.


Or you can always signup for playstation+ and backup your data that way.

I do not have a spare HD to put in the ps3.

How much is psn +? Can I sign up for a month or it a yearly thing?

I think you can by just a month if you want but I don't know for sure how much it would cost. Probably like $15 maybe less.

Also unless you plan on updating to the latest ofw then you will have to login to the psn with your cfw machine in order to retrieve the data, so of course you run the risk of sony detecting and banning it.

Damnit Butnut..... this is unexceptable! ...sigh. I really don't wanna lose all my progress on that game. Especially when you can transfer it to later versions of the game. I appreciate all your help though. Thank You!
