Hello everyone,
I have a question about Teensy++ 2 Which NOR ps3 models are compatible with this flasher? All Phat and Slim models? Even the new superSlim model? For now I know we can't downgrade the last PS3 but we can read the NOR. Thank you very much. |

And, if Teensy++ 2 is cheap, safe and relatively easy to use, why people spend money and time with E3 and Progskeet flashers? Teensy++ 2 has a problem that I don't know? Does it often fail or something like that? Thank you again. |

I heard that teensy is not as stable as progskeet and e3 flasher.

Seriously, I guess it's the lack of marketing.. Actually as far as I can tell, Teensy/NORway works more reliable than the other two (alright, as the developer of NORway I have to say that). Only difference is that E3/Progskeet are supposed to be solderless, but those NOR clips cause lots of trouble. E3 also comes with its own NOR flash, so you can basically do dual-boot, but getting it running is quite difficult and in the case of a firmware update it's a pain in the ass. You can as well just reflash your NOR with whatever you want. Granted, it takes 4 mins, but how often do you do that a day? So, no, Teensy doesn't have problems you don't know of, except for it's cheap and that I don't make money off it. ;-) -- judges ************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* I heard differently..

If you have ever used an Arduino, or some equivalent microprocessor board, then the Teensy is just like that. So if you are comfortable and familiar with the Arduino platform, then this is a really good choice. It's also a good point to notice that if you aren't able to understand something as simple as the Arduino, then you should probably have no business flashing your PS3 in the first place.
The E3 and Progskeet are different because they use some type of custom or proprietary VLSI processor, and more like an FPGA. Which is like a black-box. They run entirely closed-source firmware, are built on a commercial basis, as a custom device that can't be copied, in order to turn a profit on each unit. The reason Teensy is cheaper because it is based on a cheap piece of mass-produced silicone. And the hardware development board is completely general purpose (just like the Arduino). Hence with economies of scale etc built to a lowest cost for schools and so on. At the end of the day, either choice is capable of flashing / downgrading your PS3. But the Teensy is by far the more "efficient" solution in terms of requiring the absolute fewest necessary hardware components. If you really want to use a clip, the to 50pin (or is it 56pin?) NOR clip kit can be purchased seperately (it includes a wiring board). And can be wired up to a Teensy just the same way as you would do with any Progskeet. So... E3, Progskeet drawbacks = considerably higher cost? Teensy drawbacks = none whatsoever? After coming to the same independent conclusions myself, I can only agree with judges wholeheartedly. Everyone else is crazy, seems happy throwing buckets of their own money (or other people's money) down the toilet IMHO. |

Hello all again.
I don't like to talk about the things I have never try so I decided some days ago buy a Teensy 2.0++ and a Progskeet v1.2 Up to now, I have successfully downgraded two playstation 3, a slim version and a 80 GB phat version, with Teensy and the excelent NORway. Fast, easy and cheap. I have not found problems, just install, dump, patch, erease and flash. I am very happy with the teensy board because you can do a lot of things with it, not only flash playstation 3. Very very thanks to "judges", NORway is a powerfull and a great tool to downgrade ![]() In the other side I try everything to downgrade a PS3 with a progskeet but is imposible. You can dump your flash but you can't write. It is expensive with a lot of features that today don't work. The software has a lot of buttons and options... Why? NORway can do the same things and only have a few and clear options! Is expensive and you can't find support. The only thing I miss in NORway is the NAND support. I bought a Progskeet to use it with my old 60GB PS3 but I can't, as I have said before Progskeet has errors for now and you can't write. In ps3devwiki you can read that theoretically it would be possible if someone write the correct software, is that true? In short, if you only want to downgrade a NOR PS3 buy a Teensy 2.0++ and use NORway. Is cheaper, easier and safer than others. Thank you "judges" and "marcan" again for the NORway. And sorry for my bad english, I have tried to do my best. |

Can someone help me? I've no idea what I've done wrong. My dumps look mostly okay, but there's random bytes all over the place that are like a bit off in either direction. For example, I get 0FADF0FF or 0FACF0FF instead of 0FACE0FF. I got about four dumps that were exactly the same, then I took the whole thing off and re-soldered every connection. I am 99% sure I have them all hooked up the right way now, but I've got another four identical dumps that are just as bad.
The only pattern I can see between the two sets of dumps is that the bytes that differ are off by either one or four bits. The location seems random, though... I honestly don't know where I could have gone wrong. Surely it's just something stupid simple. I'm pretty sure the firmware on here was corrupt to begin with: I bought it RLoD on ebay hoping it was just the hard drive. Turns out to be an endless firmware update loop. Any advice at all would be much appreciated! |

It's hard to say what's wrong with only four bytes to look at. Upload your current dump to mediafire and send me a PM with the download link. Maybe I can see a pattern. -- judges |
