I thought I should chime in and say that I value BobbyBangin's contribution to this thread. I took his idea of another account (which I wouldn't have thought of) and got to play online for a whole day. Any input or ideas are greatly appreciated, and should not be struck down because they aren't the "be all, end all" fix. just my two cents

1.03 patch is out. No difference in regards to 'server not available' error.

Yeah, I tried to convey that message in post #761 of this thread. But dude hijacked this thread with a bunch of crap nobody wants to read. I'm just trying to help. I'm not going to lie down for $ony and Treyarc just because they want me to. They can only push you as far as you let them.

i will just say this, if you think your account is banned, call AV CS and ask, they only need your psnid/avid and they will tell you outright.

Lightbulb

if you guys actually took the time to investigate rather than stipulate you would actually know why we cant connect,

ill give you my theory based upon facts:

so we all logged early played then server errors
few days later we get back on using new accounts then the following day its the same ole server error

Boot ps3, enable wifi, dont sign psn, load BO2 = Black screen most times but odd boot with serv error/lock ups
Boot ps3, disable wifi, dont sign psn(obviously), load BO2 = boots fine but serv error

so this indicates a connection problem could be a number of things from;

their servers at full capacity
a datacenter between your connection and theirs is playing up
or the DREADED "omg they see i got cfw or illegal downloads best run and hide "

So you then progress and start monitoring your ps3 wifi connection like i did
(could try a prog like commview for wifi?)

enable wifi on the ps3 load web browser on ps3 to make sure your actually seeing tcp/ip , udp , packets from the ps3 ect

load multiman, select + x BO2, X on App/ps3_game

and before the dreaded black screen you'll notice alot of activity between you and their server's (servers because ive been picking up a few diffrent ip's all the same place and packet/size)

my theory (theory because i cant gain access to their servers and the packets are RSA encrypted ) is upon connection they do 1 of 3 things;

Scan the disc for a key/data stamp - upon not seeing this your put into a do not allow access type list. (hence the new account would work or disc on cfw)

Scan for something within the actual game files, new key? embedded data? who knows.

Detect something to do with the CFW possibility YES but i highly doubt it now

also during multiplayer menu you get similar results as on boot so their servers are definatly scanning something and like i said without access its guess work

this leads me to my final conclussion and that is there was a reason duplex quoted this in the release

"Notes: DUPLEX supports valid scene releases only, and no region dupes. DUPLEX will not patch updates for you because we think the base retail version is enough to test out a game. If you want updates and support - BUY IT and support the developers!"

their kind of telling you there that 1.02 is where these problems arise and no doubt they have a fix but we wont see it untill there done with their work and its then a spoil of war

Source: http://www.*******.com/ps3-cfw-mfw/c...y-team-duplex/

you will also note on the source that half way down it says about:

Around 7 (new) checks (withing the selfs), some replaced with 00's and some like param_sys.... E4 > DC , 38 E0 > 7C C7 , 01>00 , t6mp CC 25 64> CC 25 5C

Read more: http://www.*******.com/ps3-cfw-mfw/c...#ixzz2CWBpWu9W

this goes along the same lines as my theory for them detecting embedded data or a new type of key

and to finalise

go grab your OFW grab your game disc grab a new account and your plain sailing yes some people had problems but alot of the ofw users claiming problems where indeed cfw users and innocents did get caught up in the crossfire but this happens around this time every year on the 360

my 2 cents enjoy psn while you can i see alot of game devs taking this route

Server not available error on Black ops 1 was 99% chance that you have been banned from the black ops servers with that psn id.
I doubt very much if that would change with this release.
Great thread BTW

I can tell you right now it's with cfw. I have legit copy worked fine on ofw, but was giving me issues with lock ups. Ended up my ofw ps3 laser died. thankfully though I got new one for cheap on newegg. Anywho so i tried playing on my cfw ps3 in meantime only to have 2 accounts banned now :-( all with legit copy no backup no mm. 4.30 cfw

When I say banned I mean server unavailable try again later. Psn in general still works.
