I wonder how badly $ony will have to fail before they do some things us gamers want like backward compatibility. I doubt $ony know how many gamers will not buy the system with out backwards compatible with Playstation 3. Instead have to play them though their newly acquired cloud-gaming service Gaikai and what buy the games again. I surely would not want to do that when I could use the games I already bought. I am waiting for the system to come out to see what it can and can't do before I say for sure if I will or won't buy it. It is not looking so good for $ony at the moment I would say.

Yeah, as sad as it would be, there's a decent possibility that the Playstation 4 won't be named Playstation 4. As in Japan, that would be no different from calling the PS4 Playstation Death or Playstation Dead (LOL). It's to the point that a lot of buildings in Japan will refuse to label a floor the fourth floor (3rd floor to 5th floor!). I guess that's the primarily the reason the other companies consoles are not numbered sequentially.

Also on the BC, it's kidna obvious, I mean the PS3 devs are huge difficulties emulating the PS2 on the PS3, and the problem will be magnitudes higher on a PS4 trying to emulate a PS3.

Yeah, they're kinda on a rut right now. That should just call it Playstation Orbis or something. =/

@ZOMBIEKILLAH I have always had a theory with $ony. Since bit-torrent is being attacked right now in the copywrong world, $ony is making all of their money back from the loss in hardware early on by secretly allowing a flaw eventually in their console system to be exploited so they cold sell their hardware (3.41). They don't want to play cat and mouse anymore since lv0 was released, so they will try to secure their network (which they are having a hard time now) and primarily focus their efforts right now on Orbis because they think it's their salvation if they start from the ground up and no BC except through PSN.

Changing trademark based on superstition << idiots.
I would assume if they do go ahead with this, they will probably call it Sony Playstation Orbis rather than Sony Orbis, both of which sound stupid.
Playstation is a very well established trademark, like hell they would give it up entirely.

Oh and I already knew they wouldn't make it backward compatible.
It really pisses me off when some consoles don't have backward compatiblity.

Want to play ps1 games, get them off ps store or emulate on pc. Same for ps2 games.

Keep your ps3 for ps3 games.

Buy a ps4.
