This is me.
(Sorry for my bad Engrish, also, idk why I post this here
, but this the off-topic section so I geuss it's OK...) Hello guys, I'm a 17 year old Turkish muslim guy who lives in Holland/Rotterdam. At the age of 16 I finished high school and got my diploma. Now it's been 6 months and I'm studying MediaTechnologie and Communication. It's about programming stuff like ps3 games apps and web sites. But I don't like it. After 4 months I asked myself; Is this what you are going to do for the rest of your life? Sit at a desk and code ****? Is this what you want? And my answer was no. I'm frustrated with this choice I have to make. How can I choose what I should do for the rest of my life at this age? I'm not really interested in anything or got any interesting hobbies. I try to find something but I just CAN'T. Not to brag or anything, but I'm a smart guy, but my laziness is to big to make me study at all. In Holland school are like this; Kader>VMBO>HAVO>VWO (from easiest to hardest) I finished my HAVO without even studying AT ALL for my exams... My parents always tell me; Be a lawyer! A doctor! A business man! Sometimes I just want to be a pilot and fly, sit behind a desk all day and do nothing, jump out of airplane, help people, make creative things with photoshop or draw something or the most random **** ever and think;I'm totally gonna do this for the rest of my life! This is my dream job! And the next day, I'm over it and frustrated again. I'm a pretty social person and talk a lot with others, but other then talking with friends and family, I just sit home all day. Doing nothing besides playing on my ps3,browsing forums, talking to people,listening to music, just random stuff to make the time past by... I just don't know what to do anymore... I wondered if anyone feels the same? Or could help me in some way... Tnx for reading

On the outside looking in it is easy to tell someone what to do. It's not where your from or where your going but where your at. Do something you love and be happy with yourself. I'm glad you even have to ask a life question such as this and be proud of that. Now what do you want to do? That is the real question. I can easily tell you what not to do. You don't grind you don't eat. It takes a little work to do what you want. "Real power is taken not given."

@djfunky
you sound like a really interesting young man
![]() In a small way I know what you mean with not knowing what to do with yourself. I ended up studying a whole bunch of stuff that I don't use to earn a living at all. Not saying I regret it. I like studying for the sake of learning things I want to know about . Its also a good way to find yourself. The only thing I'm truly interested in is technology and hanging with friends. Everything else is a case of "oh I was really into that one summer". A lot of the time when a persons mind is advanced they don't find things that "normal" people find interesting, interesting at all. Everyone has a passion. There's never someone that has no hobbies even if they don't know it yet. My best advice to you is to just have as much fun as you can, while you're young, in order to find your passion. But its up to you to go exploring. After all its when you are having fun when you usually find a passion/hobby isn't it? One thing is for sure though and this is most important: NEVER be what other people want you to be. Especially someone like you who hasn't found himself yet. If you do you will find your passion along the way and depending on the circumstances it may be too late to follow your passion and/or make it your career. Take care

ive heard this... " if you were already a multimillionaire, what would you do for self entertainment and fun?" and then from there figure out what it is you truely enjoy doing and figure out a way to make it profitable. me personally im in my late 20s and still havent really figured out what i "want" to do for the rest of my life. most jobs ive had i get bored of after a few years, repetitiveness is what really takes a drain on my psyche but with age i seem to just put up with it out of i guess lazyness to try to figure out something else to do in this down economy. ive had hobbys that i now lost the passion for. i was for the last few years while being officially unemployed, was making decent money doing small 2 stroke engine modification and repair, custom fabrication/wielding, and had a true love and passion for it, but being a specialty and custom only thing, and in this down economy, i finally learned that there wasnt really a legit future in it for me. i did always want to move to cali and become a medical pot farmer, but i quit smoking earlier this year and really didnt want to continue with a lifestyle were i would always have the nagging fear of losing it all on a federal bust and go to prision for a "job" that or deal with shady charters or drug dealers who you can never absolutely trust. i did grow a few crops and learned how easy it is to slip a little and nuteburn or underwater/overwater or let it go to bug damage. too easy to **** up 3+ months of hard work with just a day or 2 of neglect
