What a headache.

Hey, what about waiting until Sony drops the PS3 for the PS4? I figure that's the better way since the prices willl plummet and the system would become more hackable if no more OFWs will be made at that time.

How's that strategy? I've got the patience and the time.

If they keep supporting PlayStation Plus for PS3 they'll probably keep releasing firmware updates for security patches.

PSP seems to have been stuck with 6.60 OFW which is hackable.

And playable online, but who plays online on PSP?

Yep! That is correct! The last number means the region as i know from my own PS3 mine is CECH-2004A, 4 is Europe...

Yes, it is just the CECH-2501B model which is a "sometime hackable" as some were shipped with 3.55 while others were shipped with 3.56. Anything below that is hackable although may require a hardware flasher as someone may have updated the firmware to some original firmware above 3.55, you still need toe have the PS3 on 3.55 so you can put a custom firmware on it and jailbreak it


So to sum it up, look for the following:
ANY CECH-20xx
ANY CECH-21xx
Anything between CECH-25x1A (sometimes) and CECH-24x6A/B

As well as any PHAT PS3 if I am not mistaken?
