Hi guys,

I just recently bought a PS3 ( specs in sig ) and am about to take my first step, into the hallowed waters of free ps3 games :D

I've scoured through a lot of threads within this forum, and still have a few questions that I hope some of you can answer. I'm fairly noobish when it comes to ps3 hacking, but I can definitely grasp the basic concepts because I've been gaming for well over a decade now.

Firstly - Will I be able to run all/some of my games right off my external hard drive ? I know some jailbreaks support this feature, and others don't..but I don't what is outdated or not, so is this a legitimate concern ?

Second - As far as I can tell, an FTP transfer and an external usb act as substitutes to each other in the installation process, so which one would be more effective/simpler ?

Third - Whats the deal with inserting Blu-ray discs when using Multi-man ? Does the disc have to be empty, and is the process necessary for all games ? I currently have F1 racing, and Nascar ( not by choice ) on my internal harddrive, and was able to boot both games without a cd in the tray.

That's all for now, but I'll be sure to have more queries as I finish downloading the duplex release of Dishonored. That'll be my first attempt at installations, and I should have more to discuss then.

Pretty much everything will run off your external HD according to your specs in your sig. I am pretty new too and have a similar setup to yourself and have got all my games running off the external so far no issues.

I prefer the USB option, but thats just me. Its easier to manipulate files, etc. on the computer than PS3 interface. Its really down to preference I'd think. I haven't used the FTP feature yet and it hasn't bothered me at all.

Some, not all games will require a disc in the drive to run. So when you "mount" the game in multiman and go back to the XMB, you will see the game with a disc icon which is where you run the game.

Is a good place to start. Will tell you what settings you need in multiman and whether you need a disc in, etc. I just leave a disc in all the time so I don't have to worry about it. And yes, it has to be a game AFAIK.

Great, thanks for the reply buddy. I'm just looking into using an NTFS harddrive instead of a FAT32 one since I just broke mine, and can't afford to format my NTFS one. Downloaded dishonored yesterday. Will post the story of my imminent success/failure here :D

You cant run games off a ntfs drive. Format to fat32 or use internal.

So I managed to copy Dishonored (Duplex release) onto my hard drive, using Multiman, and booted it after a couple of trial and error attempts ( in the end, inserting a CD was necessary ).

But the graphics for the game were surprisingly..****ty ? And the resolution is wide-screen.. Either that's normal with Dishonored ( I've played it on the PC, and it was def better..not sure about resolution though ) Or I've messed up somewhere.



Besides that, my only issue is that I was unable to play it off the external hdd ( couldn't figure out how ). But , at this point, just being able to install and run Dishonored is good enough for me.

Why play dishonored on ps3 if you have it for pc? pc graphics 0wnz consoles.

Dishonored was the smallest download I could find, to try out the whole Multiman installation process :P But I had no idea the difference between pc and ps3 graphics was so tangible..

Hopefully Fifa and AC3 isn't like that

Playing Duplex's release of Far Cry 3, and I'm having the same issues I had with dishonored ( choppy pixelated graphics, annoying wide screen format ). Surely this can't be attributed to the age old "pc beats ps3" argument... ? Since I've never had any issues with my blu ray games, is this to be expected from most cracked games ? How ****ty can graphics be..on something that runs GOW3 and UC...

Any feedback would be appreciated !

Turns out my TV was on 420p for some reason, no wonder Dishonored and Far Cry looked so ****ty.
