so in other words "we could do it, but that would mean actually coding specifically for the wii-u and not just porting it so its too much hassle"

Just because the wii U didn't make the mistake of the 360 and ps3 of using overkill cpu's doesn't mean wii u has done it badly, in general gpu and ram are what's needed, not a beefier cpu.

Well I'm getting ready to fire mine up now... hope ZombiU is actually to my liking since I went with the cheaper option over the $350 with that **** game Nintendo Land.

Can't wait until the A+ title "The Homebrew Channel" comes out :D

Thats what I took from it... I played Metro and though it did look pretty good the specs for the game were kind of overkill for it. There are always ways around hardware restrictions, you always hear of games within the first year of a console release "stressing the console to its limits" but then then at the end of the console life every game that comes out looks 10x better. I'm not too worried, though I do think the fact that the pro controller not having a mic/headset port and the triggers not being analog is pretty dog **** on Nintendo's part. I'll whine, ***** and moan but I will end up with all 3 of the new consoles.

I plan to get a Wii-U eventually, I like Nintendo games.

It is a shame though that they didn't put a better CPU in, how will it compete against the 'true next gen' if it can't even run some of the games for this gen? For Nintendo to be top dog this time round they need to run the same games as the others, they need the catalogue that makes people think "I don't need a PS4/Xbox 720" not "I'll get a Wii-U as well".

You are omitting a detail: They could do it from scratch, but then it would end up being a different game, as the console is underpowered for what they have planned.

RE: The article
How is this surprising, though? This was to be expected. Nintendo take last generation's hardware, slap a gimmick on it, and sell the same games they have been making for the last 20 years. Those, and of course casual shovelware, with the rare gem here and there.

I grew up with a NES and the Gameboy, then went on to the SNES and the N64. Even had a gamecube. But recently I have come to dislike the company. If for nothing else, then for their constant regurgitating.

It's not under-powered, it has a GPGPU architecture to offload CPU calculation to the GPU and it seems the Metro Devs have been trying to run everything like they would on an Xbox 360 not taking into consideration how different the WiiU's internals work.

First of all I don't understand why anyone would be under the impression that Nintendo released a powerful console. As long as I've been gaming they've ALWAYS been underpowered. Just because the WiiU released 7 years after the 360 doesn't mean the games will be better. Look at the Wii, released 5 years after the Xbox and there's not a single Wii game to rival DOA3's graphics, Halo's huge maps, or Otogi's completely destructible levels.

Nes was more powerful then the Master System
Snes was more powerful then the Megadrive
N64 was more powerful then the Playstation
Gamecube was more powerful then the PS2 (it was actually slightly more powerful then the xbox, but only just)

You clearly haven't been gaming very long.

For me it'll be like it was this gen.
I'll end up with all the consoles, then they'll gather dust because I do most of my gaming on PC

Pfft CPU power doesn't count. Fun and Good games do. Stop *****in about the hardware and just give us enjoyable game to play. Ya Mario is more fun than Metro
