Jailbreak Trouble

Hey guys,

I have put my PS3 in recovery mode to update my PS3 to a jailbroken software, as pressing the home and eject button and then clicking software update via storage media won't work. I have made the folders PS3 - UPDATE - PS3UPDAT.PUP and nothing else is on the flash drive. It is formatted as a FAT32.

So I hit 6. Software Update in recovery mode, stick my flash drive in, and press select and start. I wait, then it says, "The data is corrupted. (8002F2C5)" I have tried 2 different PUP files, and both have not worked.

Any help is EXTREMELY appreciated. Thank you!

I'm on original firmware, and I think I'm just jailbreaking 4.30, not upgrading to 4.31.

Derp. Did you read or search any of the tuts? You need a hardware flasher to downgrade from OFW, and only if your original FW was 3.55 or earlier.............

I've spent about a couple of days on this now, but I'm new to this jailbreaking software. I'm not too familiar with all of the terms, but I know some of them. My original firmware was 3.55 or earlier, and I've looked at tons of tutorials, but haven't found one that works. Where could I find a hardware flasher, and does this mean that everyone who has ever downgraded to jailbreak has bought one of those?

Yes, if you are any OFW above 3.55 you MUST use a HW flasher.
